Leafy's POV:
I've been walking for what feels like forever, I'm sure if I keep going, I'll find the beast...maybe even be a hero. That'd be something I'd get to have bragging rights about...right? I know I shouldn't be thinking that, should I?She let out a soft chuckle. She stood there for a minute, squinting her eyes in every direction, looking for the guy who nearly killed Woody. Since she already knew who it was, she decided to look where she remembered people said he liked to go, he hadn't been with the group for a while, and he had decided to stay back, with the group staying here. Gosh...they should've already been a good amount of the way there by now if they had just left...everyone could be safe...she was snapped out of her thoughts quickly as she heard a low rumbling sound. She pulled out two of her knives bracing herself as it got closer. She squinted a bit. There. It was coming, and fast. She had already identified who it was, she wasn't very worried...that changed very quickly.
Loser: hey Leafy! What are you doing out here this late?
Her blood froze. She didn't think she would be followed, or better yet, having it be Loser. She was stuck. She didn't know what to do. The sound was getting louder and louder, he was definitely almost here by now...the choices were closing one by one quickly. It was clearly her or Loser.
Leafy: LOSER! MOVE-
Loser: what?
She had quickly jumped out of the way. She expected Loser to follow. They were just confused. Confused and watching her. Their clueless made her even more desperate.Leafy: LOSER. MO-
It was too late.
Fate was decided.
Leafy could only watch in horror.
Loser had been run over.
Of course, since he was one of the few glass-based contestants, shards went flying everywhere, with shards came blood, and it was a lot of it...
Leafy stood there. Still not knowing what to do. She looked down at the bloodied remains of who she once considered her idol, everyone's idol, gone. Just like that. To think she could've probably prevented it from happening just worsened that feeling, which was already bad enough. She should've checked to make sure no one was following her before she ventured this deep into the city...but...of course, she didn't. Which made that feeling again, a little righted in her chest.
She walked slowly and painfully back to where her group had set up camp for the night. Some people were already up, which was understandable, it was probably around 6 now. She had been out for much longer than she thought. The first person to get up and greet her of course, was Firey. Since they were sharing a tent, he was the first one to notice she was gone. None of them knew about Loser, making the feeling once again, tighten. They had all seemed happy this morning, which said a lot, especially after what had happened to Woody. Although she knew she would have to tell them the truth, there were some objects that could be destroyed by the news...she couldn't even bring herself to imagine how Cake would react...he'd be more than crushed, he'd be absolutely heartbroken. Loser had been his comfort throughout most of this time, they spent a lot of time together, sure sometimes Cake could be a little much, but he didn't deserve this.
Tighter and tighter, little by little.
She was just about ready to completely burst, so many emotions overtaking her, until she felt a hand on her own, she had completely forgotten Firey had been by her side this whole time she had come back. She quickly returned to reality.
Firey: Leafster? A-are you good?
Leafy: oh...um...yea...
Firey: Leafy. I know something's up. You know either way I'll find out...if something is bothering you...I'm right here to listen...
Leafy let out a sigh before giving in. How could she resist the chance to get things off her chest? After all, Loser's death had basically been her own fault. She told him everything exactly how she remembered it. He gasped a few times, at the end of her telling, he looked devastated but a little relief was on his face.
Firey: gosh...all of that happened last night?!?
Leafy: yea...
Firey: I'm just glad you told me...I'm glad you're safe...the others definitely will not like this...
Leafy: I managed to figure that much out, genius.
Firey: dang-ok but seriously. We need to tell the others...whether you want to or not...
Leafy: I know-I know-I just-
Firey: not now...just-whenever we're both ready to...we can do this Leafy. I promise you.
She knew better than to say anything about that, he was probably her closest friend and he had almost never not meant what he said before.
Leafy let out a sigh: ok..
The next few days had been pretty difficult, Cake was frantically looking for Loser, which Leafy had expected, but the sight of it made her feel absolutely horrible. She knew they could still be alive if it weren't for her slow timing, but Firey soothed some of that feeling, which obviously made her feel better, but there was still a lot of guilt. Cake hadn't given up and was looking across the city. He had some help, but everyone gave up about 2 days after they had started, they all had a feeling that they knew what happened to them, but none of them wanted to tell Cake.
Cake had a feeling that they were dead, but pushed it away as fast as he possibly could every time the thought circled back. He knew it probably wasn't very healthy, but the thought of losing Loser was too much for his poor heart to bear, he had gotten a little more distant from them, but it still hurt like hell to think he may've lost them.
After a day or two more, Leafy and Firey had finally decided to tell the group about Loser's death.
Of course, everyone was crushed. No matter who would've died, a lot of people would be after all, some more than others. A few people went directly over to Cake, who was still not accepting the loss of his idol, and partner. Pie had been right there by his side the whole time, not talking much, but offering every sort of comfort she possibly could. Most of the food based contestants went over to him, they just had a closer bond than with the not so much food contestants.
A few more dark days followed, some smaller groups had even decided to go ahead and leave while they had the chance, they had said it was a life or death situation and they weren't sticking around to figure out who'd be next, but left them with that "warning."
Leafy couldn't care less, she had her siblings, they were alive, that's all she could ask for at the moment.
The night finally came after another long day, and everyone had unanimously fallen into the grip of sleep.
