[THE BEGINNING]

"Now open your eyes" A young Marcelo sat in his abuelas bed as a candle before him burned bright.

"This is where our magic comes from?" He asked. Now looking up at the older woman. She hummed a yes to him before starting to talk again.

"This candle holds the miracle that was gifted to our family, years ago.." She smiled and looked to the candle. The candle had a butterfly and other carvings in it that glowed.

"How did we get the miracle?" Marcelo asked and then the candle glowed brighter as she smiled to look at it.

"Long ago...My three children had just been born. Your abuelo and I were forced to leave our home and find a safe place for our babies. " Now we could see abuelo in a flashback as they frowned to the fire and screams outside their window.

"Though many joined us, all hoping to find a new home, the dangers followed and we were ambushed..Then your abuelo was lost" Abuela frowned as she remembered holding her babies tightly as she cried.

"But...In our darkest moment..We were gifted a miracle" The candle next to younger abuela glowed brightly. Then the woman watched as mountains grew, houses formed, and the evil men were pushed out. "The candle became a magical flame, one that could never go out. Blessing us with a refuge to live and grow" She smiled as she remembered seeing everything grow.

"The miracle grew...and our house...Our casita itself, came alive to shelter us..When my children came of age the miracle blessed each with a gift. To help us" She smiled as she looked down at her three babies. Now they were toddlers, and they looked to the glowing doors before them.

"When their children came of age..They got their gifts as well. Together our families gift.. Made our sanctuary a paradise" She smiled as the house glowed bright in the town. Moonlight shining down on the other houses.

"Tonight...This candle will grant you your gift mi Vida" His abuela smiled. "You will now strengthen our community and our home. Make your family proud. "Abuela smiled to the boy, but who knew that would be the last smile for a very long time.

(y/n) smiled as she watched Marcelo walk down the path. Her eyes trained on him as he wore his white outfit. Although not too far was Isaiah looking at her. She stood with the other kids and her hand held the little kids next to her. He couldn't keep his eyes away from her, he thought she was so pretty.

As he reached the door it glowed, but then-

[A DAY BEFORE THE CEREMONY]

{AUTHOR POV}

(y/n) smiled as the children laughed with her, the spun around holding hands. Towns people glancing at them with smiles of their own as they continued to do their thing. Although ones eyes lingered. He watched as she smiled and laughed. In his eyes it was far brighter then the sunny day they were all enjoying.

Then as the orphanage bell rang, all the children ran. (y/n) smiled as she watched them run off, and then she turned around with a small sigh. Dusting herself off and beginning her own tasks. She often helped Marcelo with things he liked to do around the town.

She turned around and then accidentally bumped into someone. Unsurprisingly that someone was Isaiah. He smiled his perfect smiled and held his hand out to her, all the while flowers grew around them.

"I apologize! I wasn't watching where I was going..." (y/n) said and looked down with red cheeks. Then a flower curled under her chin and her face was lifted to meet Isaiah's.

"No worries..I hope it didn't hurt when you fell for me" He joked and smirked to her.

"I-I well...I mean!" She tripped over her words. (y/n) was confused as she usually never did that, but when he was around she did. He watched her with amusement.

"I apologize...That was funny..."She finally said as she took a breath and looked up at him with her kind smile. "I should be going now, thank you for helping me up!" She quickly said, throwing him a wave, and then rushing off.

Now it was his turn to watch her off with a red face of his own. He put his hand up slightly and waved back before shaking his head and walking away. Looking at the floor with a small smile, the feeling of her hand in his. Still burning against his skin. He looked down at his hand before his abuela appeared Infront of him.

He jumped into his normal self, although behind everything, he still only thought of (y/n).

---

"Marcelo!" She called out to the man. He turned around and smiled at the girl as he was sewing into his clothes.

"Morning (y/n)!" Greeting her with a cheery tone.

The two often hung out whenever given the chance. Making most assume they have hidden feelings for one another. Although the truth is, they just found each other when they were at the worst, and stuck around. A comfort to one another.

"need any help?" She asked with a smile. Marcelo watched the girl move around the room.

"Did you get any sleep last night?" He asked. She turned away and frowned.

"Of course!" She said. Although she often slept late as (y/n) always made sure the kids woke up to a clean home.

"uh-huh" He sighed and opened the blankets on his bed for the girl. "I know you went to sleep late again. You should get some rest" He smiled gently to the girl.

They were close, and he cared for her deeply. Always watching out for her, always making sure she eats, and always making sure she has rest. He never wanted her to be sick, or even to be sad. So he did everything in his power to prevent it. Although this has only led to him confusing those feelings for love, but he didn't know that just yet..

"Thanks marc" She smiled and lied down in the bed. Slowly closing her eyes as her breaths calmed down and she began to relax.
