The friendship between Semi and Ushijima's sister had started so naturally that it was only in hindsight he realized how quickly she had become a part of his world. She had a way of waiting for him after practices, always with that warm smile and easy laughter. Sometimes, they'd slip off to the campus gardens to share lunch—quietly enjoying each other's company as they swapped stories or jokes. Somewhere in those countless shared moments, she had become more than just Ushijima's sister, more than a friend. She had become someone he looked forward to seeing, someone who made each day feel brighter.

Over time, he found himself collecting little moments like they were precious keepsakes. The way her nose scrunched slightly when she laughed too hard, or how her eyes lit up when he told her about a particularly well-played game. Every fleeting smile, every quiet word they shared—they all began to mean more to him than he'd ever intended.

One quiet afternoon, after a grueling practice, Semi stayed back in the gym to work on his sets. He didn't realize she was there until he looked up from his practice to see her watching him from the doorway, her head tilted with a soft smile. The gym was nearly empty, the echoes of his solo practice the only sound, and her presence felt like a comforting anchor amidst the silence.

"Hey," she said, stepping into the gym as she approached him. Her voice was soft, as if she didn't want to disturb the calm that had settled over them.

"Hey," he replied, catching his breath. His heart was racing for more than just the workout; her presence always seemed to spark something in him. They talked for a few minutes, simple, easy words that felt more meaningful with each exchange.

As the quietness enveloped them once more, Semi felt a surge of courage welling up inside him, one he knew he'd regret ignoring. He took a small breath, watching her carefully, and said, "Listen, there's... something I've been wanting to say..."

She stopped talking, her expression softening as she turned fully to face him. A slight blush spread across her cheeks, her fingers nervously brushing over her arm as though she could feel the anticipation in the air. The gym was hushed now, every sound amplified in the stillness around them. Her gaze was fixed on him, and there was a glimmer of something—a quiet hope—in her eyes.

"I... I like you," he said, his voice steady but raw with vulnerability. His gaze held hers, and he found he couldn't look away. "I've liked you for a while now. I know it might be complicated because of, well... your brother. But I had to tell you. I couldn't just keep pretending..."

For a second, her face was unreadable, her eyes searching his. But then she stepped forward, her eyes soft and warm as she looked up at him. Her fingers brushed his, the lightest, most delicate touch, and he could feel the warmth in her hand.

"I was hoping you'd say that," she murmured, her voice barely above a whisper. Her cheeks were pink, her smile shy but radiant. "Because I like you too, Eita. I've liked you since I first saw you on the court."

The words felt like a release, a weight lifted from both of their shoulders. The two of them stood there, smiling at each other, feeling the connection that had always been there but had now, finally, found words. Every glance they had exchanged, every moment they had shared, it was all there between them—unspoken, yet understood.

Semi took her hand fully, his grip gentle but sure, and she moved closer until there was hardly any space between them. "I know it won't be easy," he said softly, "but... I don't care. I just want to be with you."

She nodded, her gaze unwavering. "Me too. We'll figure it out. Besides," she added with a smirk, "I think Wakatoshi will come around. Eventually."

They both laughed softly, sharing a smile that held all the promises of the moments to come. And in that quiet gym, with the world fading away around them, they found themselves perfectly at ease in each other's presence, knowing that, no matter what challenges lay ahead, they'd face them together.
