PROLOGUE

Most would say they remember these two girls always playing with each other whether it be the morning, afternoon or an eventful night at each other's houses. There wasn't a day they weren't seen together, and given the unfortunate chance of one being ill, you can count on the other to stay home too - together.

There were many things Bilah and Eiliyah were known for, one being their infamous pranks that may or may not have left people scarred. But of course you too would remember the time you and the entire population of your town had been covered in custard at the annual fair. How two 11 year old pulled that off, no one knew. Fair enough to say they weren't seen out of their house for a week apart from going to school and even then they stayed in the same house, throwing a tantrum at the idea of being separated.

Apart from having the common interest to disturb the peace of the town, the two shared absolutely nothing in common. Whilst Bilah took a positive outlook to life, Eiliyah had a sarcastic comment towards everything. One shared the love of nature while the other rather stay home in the confinements of her room. One took an athletic approach whilst one slept all she could.

But, no matter how much Eiliyah wanted to be sarcastic, a comment as such would never slip out of her mouth when with her sister - at every chance she got, she spent outdoors with Bilah, cheering her on every game she had. The same could be said about Bilah. Whenever her friend wanted to stay indoors, they'd be together watching the new series of whatever show they were currently addicted to. Not to mention the pizza boxes they would manage to sneak in - just for Eiliyah she would forget her regime.

The unbreakable bond between the two, or so they thought, did not only lie between them. In fact you could say it all started with their parents being the best of friends and conveniently always leaving the pair together in their youths. You would think the parents regret being apart of forging this bond, but despite all the troubles they put themselves through, they couldn't be happier about it.

"No matter what happens with one, at least they'll have the comfort in another to feel cherished." Is what Eiliyahs father used to say whenever someone would complain about the pair. He strongly encouraged the girls to be together at all times even though the mothers didn't agree; to him it was like reminiscing the old days with Bilahs father, and that was something he loved indeed.

So whenever a gathering was known to happen, you could either take the opportunity and be embarrassed by the  shenanigans that was bound to occur, or save yourself the trouble and stay home. Yet people always found it hard to say no because no matter what, these girls were sweet when they wanted and people had an instant liking to them.

So imagine the shock and misery when it came to the time of departure of Eiliyah from Bilah - her family were moving to a whole different country which at a young age, both the girls had never heard of. Dubai being on the other side of the world to America was the most traumatising thing the girls had heard of and so they spent an entire week locked up in their rooms, clinging on to another and promising to never forget their friendship.

"Dad says you'll come back one day because he can't live without your dad just like I can't live without you." Spoke an 11 year old Bilah to her best friend who was currently sobbing her eyes out. It had been two days since they found out yet Eiliyah still hadn't come to terms with the betrayal of her parents moving her away from her home, family and most importantly, sister.

"Yeah, one day I'll come back and we can play together again. If they don't let me then I can always run away to come and see you. A plane ticket can't cost that much." She said as she mumbled the last part mostly to herself in reassurance that she will come back.
