A/N Well. I failed my posting schedule first week in. Guess it's not for me.
TIME TO GO BACK TO ERRATIC POSTING!
I am sorry though
Wishes have been granted! Sasuke's back, and this one's a teensy bit longer than my average (I can't write more than this usually. So sorry.)
Live laugh love Sabrina Carpenter (I would commit unspeakable war crimes for Short n Sweet Tour tickets)

Shinki had forced him outside, and he wasn't happy about it. Shikadai usually enjoyed being in Sunagakure, he liked the sun and the lazy nature, that he had a good excuse to stay inside all day. The sun and heat made him sleepy, so he would sleep the days away when he and his parents would visit.
But, he couldn't sleep at the moment. So here he was. Shinki had gotten sick of his moping and locked him outside and told him to "do something, goddamit!"
He roamed through the streets in a daze, barely noticing people greeting him (something he hated - his mother was rather popular in Sunagakure). He wasn't particularly sure where he was going, but Shinki had sworn not to let him back inside until at least 3 o'clock, which gave him four hours. He sighed. It was a long time to be out, especially in the heat. But Shinki was a stubborn bastard, and Shikadai knew there was no getting around him.
He found himself in the market. Being early on a Sunday morning, it was chock full of people milling about, and Shikadai found himself squeezing between people to get around. He cringed; the noise was unbearable. He had to get out of it, fast, before he gave himself a migraine. He started pushing a little harder.

Boruto still felt like shit.
He was awake, and Kenji had taken him out of the hotel. He'd expected to be dragged straight to the car so they could set off, but instead Kenji had taken him to the market. He'd said Boruto could use some fresh air, or some other bullshit. Boruto was well aware of how filthy he was. Kenji had given him deodorant, which was some consolation, but he hadn't washed once in the... what, week? That he'd been stuck with Kenji. He could feel the thick layer of grime on his skin. His disguise remained, and he hated how greasy his hair was. It was flat against his head, his unstraightened curls slumped from the lack of cleaning. The hood over his head covered them, which was some small consolation.
It was ironic, really. They were surrounded by people. So, so many people. It was... a market? Maybe? Boruto wasn't sure. But with Kenji's vice like grip on his arm, and the gun he'd showed Boruto slipped into his pocket, there was nothing he could do. If Kenji opened fire when they were surrounded by so many people, it was undeniable he'd hit someone. Someone innocent. Like the woman and the gas station attendant. They'd been innocent, killed trying to help him. He wouldn't put anyone else through that.
So, he walked silently, let Kenji drag him around. He wasn't particularly paying attention to anything. He'd been to Sunagakure before, the chance that anyone from Konoha would be looking for him was unlikely, unless the search had grouped in other villages, which Boruto doubted. He'd ran away before, and after how he'd left that night, his dad probably thought he'd run off to "teach him a lesson" or some other bullshit. Boruto regretted the fact he'd done that before. It wasn't like the people from the gas station could tell them anything, considering that they were now dead. Nobody had seen Boruto outside of the hideous disguise, and what motive did Kenji even have? If it was against his dad, there would've been a ransom, or a demand, or chopped off body parts being shipped back home.
But there was nothing.
He was so distracted in his thoughts he didn't notice Kenji's hold on his arm slip. He didn't realise that his arm had been limp in Kenji's hold, and dropped down to his side, untethered. He didn't notice until he took a step to watch a small mouse skitter across the floor, dodging people's feet, that no one was holding onto him. Kenji was distracted. Boruto could slip into the crowd, sprint for the Kazekage's office, or find Shinki, maybe-
