The message glowed on her screen, “I’m coming to hunt you.” It was a ridiculous thing to say—bold, strange, but somehow exactly what she needed to hear.

She lay back against her pillow, letting the words sink in. How long had it been since someone added any excitement to her days? Everything felt so repetitive: wake up, chores, scroll mindlessly, do more chores. Now here was this stranger, this “hunter,” saying something so out of the blue, it actually made her laugh and excited.

“Who are you, anyway?” she typed back, fingers moving before she thought twice. “And why this book?”

There was a pause, a long one. She was almost ready to toss her phone aside when his reply came: “Someone as tired of normal as you are, apparently.”

She grinned, feeling a spark of something she hadn’t felt in ages—interest. She didn’t know who this guy was or why he’d chosen her to send that weird message, but maybe that was the whole appeal. He wasn’t part of her routine; he was the opposite of routine.

Maybe this summer wasn’t going to be as predictable as she thought."Well in that case, you will have to know me first."she typed, the smirk never leaving her face.

"It'll cost you something."

"What?"

"Pain , a lot of pain."

With that he had sent her an attachment.

"What the fuck? " She immediately gasped seeing the picture

"What the fuck? " She immediately gasped seeing the picture.

"Wh ..what kind of pain? "She typed , her expression still of shock."God I knew I was dumb, but this much?" She mocked herself. She should have immediately blocked this guy but here she was asking him obvious questions. She couldn't help but enjoy the feeling of thrill this hunter was giving her by his intriguing texts.

" Isn't that obvious ? Take a look at the attachment I sent" her phone buzzed.

"I saw it"

"Then, are you ready? "

"Okay , tell me where do I live?" She argued now totally invested in this conversation.

"Girl , don't ask silly questions.Tell me are you ready? And yes now you have become a part of my life, I'm not letting you go, if you do that there'll be consequences."

She threw the phone..now she was a little bit scared..but the thrill and excitement inside her was still dominating her fear.

Suddenly her phone started buzzing repeatedly. There were so many texts from Hardik.

"Arey bruh Mazaak kar raha tha."
(" Bro I was joking.")

" Daro mat."
("Don't be scared.")

"Bruhh thik ho?"
("Bro are you okay?")

"I think ye tere liye thoda zyada ho gaya."
("I think this was too much for you".)

She saw the texts from the notification bar struggling with her inner demons to reply or not . And her demons won.
