Sophia Bellamy adjusted the scarf around her neck as the cold December wind swept through her small town of Maplewood.

The little photography studio she had run for the past five years was all decked out for the holidays—twinkling lights framed the window display, and wreaths hung on every door.

Business was booming this season, with families wanting their Christmas portraits taken, capturing the warmth and joy of the season. Yet, despite the busy schedule, Sophia couldn't shake the feeling that something was missing.

She loved her work—loved capturing moments of happiness for others—but she hadn't experienced a holiday that truly felt magical in years. Not since her father passed and it was just her and her mom, Martha, keeping traditions alive.

"Hey, Soph!" Martha's cheerful voice called as she entered the studio, balancing a tray of freshly baked gingerbread cookies. "I thought you could use a little break."

Sophia smiled, taking a cookie. "Thanks, Mom. I could definitely use it. It's been non-stop all week."

As she took a bite, savoring the sweet, spiced flavor, the bell above the door jingled, signaling another customer. But instead of the usual bustling family or excited couple, a tall man in a perfectly tailored suit stood before her, holding a large envelope.

"Miss Bellamy?" he asked in a polite, yet formal tone.

Sophia blinked in surprise. "Yes, that's me."

The man handed her the envelope, bowing slightly before turning to leave. "You've been personally requested for a job. Merry Christmas."

Curiosity piqued, Sophia tore open the envelope, her eyes widening as she read the elegant script inside:

Dear Miss Bellamy,

You are cordially invited to attend and photograph the Royal Family's annual Christmas celebration at the Royal Palace of Wyndham.

Her heart skipped a beat.

"The royal family?" she whispered aloud, barely able to believe it. The invitation went on to explain the details—travel arrangements, accommodation, and, most importantly, that she would be photographing the family for their official Christmas portraits. It was the opportunity of a lifetime.

Her mother gasped behind her. "The royal family of Wyndham? Sophia, this is incredible!"

Sophia's mind raced. The idea of attending such an event was both thrilling and terrifying. The palace, the royals, the formality of it all—it was so far removed from her quiet, small-town life. But something in the back of her mind urged her to say yes.

Her mother, as always, saw right through her hesitation. "You have to go, sweetheart. This is huge! Imagine the stories, the experience—it's Christmas at the royal palace!"

Sophia smiled, the excitement slowly creeping in as she looked at the invitation again. Her fingers brushed the elegant seal at the bottom.

"Well," she said, her grin widening, "I guess I'm going to meet the royals."
