Tossing and turning. That's all Lily could do. The ground was rough and very uncomfortable. Even having layers of grass and moss to cushion the hard dirt, Lily could still not get comfortable. She was worried that she would accidentally wake or startle Kayla or worst annoy Jay. She was sure he wasn't sleeping. She kept hearing movement from where he was seated for the fire that had recently went out.
She had fallen asleep on top of Kayla probably hours before, but now she found herself up again and very restless. At some point she had fallen to the ground and that movement had woken her up. Kayla was still up and leaning against the tree. Her eyes were closed and she was slightly snoring. Lily found her sleeping form to be enchanting. She could barely see in the darkness of the late night but she could just tell how beautiful the girl had looked in that moment. Worrying a bit, she went to adjust Kayla to where she would be laying on the ground. Thinking about her own comfort she didn't realize how uncomfortable it could be leaning against a tree like that.

Throughout the night sounds became more frequent. She wasn't sure which ones exactly came from Jay anymore. Chirping, buzzing, crunching, it all came from around them. What sounded to be crickets, chirped nonstop. Owls called out from their branches and mice scurried underground along with the worms and beetles.
Lily can only assume exactly what sound came from what. Guesses, that's all they were. She didn't know what all was out there, but whatever it all was, it scared her tremendously. She shivered against a small breeze that slid through the opening of their fort. The fire had been out for a while, probably hours now. The warmth from it had vanished. The light it provided was all gone. Nothing could be seen. Everything could only be heard or felt.

It took what felt like to be hours before Lily came one with the darkness. Her eyes had become to heavy to hold anymore and she had fallen asleep again. Darkness surrounded her, but even with her eyes closed nothing really had changed. The sounds vanished one by one. The cold air was still there but just not felt. All she could feel and see now was darkness. It surrounded her while she dozed off. It swallowed her consciousness and carried her to a dreamland. No dreams were found this night. It was all covered in darkness. The walls of imagination were painted in a black void. No color peaked through it's dark curtains of emptiness.

A harsh nudge caused Lily to gasp. She had rolled over and off of whatever she was laying on and landed on what felt soft and familiar. Keeping her eyes closed she huddled herself into a ball to warm herself up. A familiar breeze blew from above and landed directly on her mostly exposed body. She tossed and turned over what she guessed was grass, it was softer now and she didn't feel anything pulling on her skin with the movement.
She rubbed her left hand over her right arm and gasped. Her arm was smooth. No cuts were felt. The movement felt much more comfortable than it did when she had fallen asleep. She found herself not sore from the terrible position she had slept in. Her clean skin was what finally made her open her eyes to search her surroundings for answers.

Slowly adjusting to a bright light she immediately looked down at her arms folded before her. Her wrists were clean of cuts and dried blood. Her knees were missing the few bruises she noticed the night before. She didn't wake up tired or scared, just confused. She ran her hand over the soft cushioned ground that she was sprawled out on. It felt familiar. Everything felt familiar.
Finally looking up, she gasped. What surrounded her was not a makeshift tent, instead it was walls, walls connected to a roof. She fell over onto her side and nearly screamed. She backed herself up until she hit her head against the couch to what she guessed she had fallen from.

     "Lily, honey, what's wrong?"

Lily looked up at the eyes that stared down at her. Those familiar green eyes brought tears to the girls eyes. She gasped out for air before grabbing hold onto the couch and pulling herself up to shaky legs. She leaned dangerously to one side before adjusting her legs. The woman before her reached a helping hand out for assistance. Lily could barely see the beauty that stared at her with worry. The woman who she knew for all her life. The woman who had given her love, happiness and joy.
