Previously.. (And Great message says,
"Hey Vegas, it's Great, you're um.... Twin brother. That's still weird on knowing but if you wouldn't mind, do you want to meet up and catch up, maybe sit down and have a coffee and get to know each other, just me and you for now and then Macau can join in, up to you and you can pick where we meet up. Anyways I better get to sleep. Goodnight." )
.
The morning came around and Vegas noticed the message from Great.
He had been staring at it for so long that he didn't know what to reply.
Pete came into the kitchen where he saw his love staring at his phone and asked, "Babe, you okay?"
Vegas looked up, eyes a bit glazed over from the shock of the message, "Yeah, it's just...my twin brother, Great."
"The one you never knew about?" Pete raised an eyebrow, placing a comforting hand on Vegas's shoulder.
Vegas nodded slowly. "He...he wants to meet up. Just me and him, for now."
Pete squeezed his shoulder gently. "How do you feel about that?"
Vegas took a deep breath, his mind racing with questions and emotions. "I'm not sure. It's a lot to take in. But I think I want to meet him."
Pete nodded, understanding in his eyes. "When and where?"
"He left it up to me," Vegas said, swiping the screen to life. "But I have to admit, I'm a bit nervous. I don't even know where to start looking for a place to meet."
Pete then suggest to meet up at the one place he had never taken anyone. "Babe, you're a mafia leader too remember that, best to make a meet up somewhere safe."
Vegas nodded and agreed. The place Pete suggested was a quaint little café on the edge of the city, where he had never conducted any business, a place that was close to their heart.
He replied to Great's message with the location and time, his thumb hovering over the send button for a moment before he finally tapped it. It was done. There was no going back now.
The day of the meeting arrived, and Vegas felt a peculiar mix of excitement and trepidation. He chose to dress casually, a simple black T-shirt and jeans, not wanting to appear too formal or intimidating. Pete offered to come along for support but Vegas declined, feeling it was important for this to be a one-on-one meeting, that and Great just wanted it to be the two of them.
The café was a charming little place with ivy crawling up the brick walls and a small patio out front. Vegas arrived early, claiming a table in the corner with a view of the entrance. The bell above the door jingled as customers came and went, but none of them were the man he was waiting for. The minutes ticked by, and with each one, Vegas's anxiety grew. Was Great going to show up? Was he being played?
Vegas kept waiting until finally he saw the door open but this time, just like the rest, it wasn't Great.
Vegas got up to leave and as he left the café, he saw Pete waiting outside for him.
"Come on then, let get home before someone recognizes you." Pete knew that most people knew Vegas is the mafia boss, so he was just making sure nothing happened to him.
"Great didn't show up, was it me, I know we don't know each other and that we grew up apart from each other but he is my twin, I really wanted to get to know him better." Vegas she'd a single tear, and soon they were back to the mansion.
Pete took him into his arms and whispered, "It's okay, babe. Maybe he had a change of heart or something came up. He'll reach out again."
They drove home in a tense silence, the engine's purr the only sound filling the car. Once inside the mansion, Vegas retreated to his office, needing space to think. He sat in his leather chair, staring at the wall, feeling a strange sense of emptiness. His mind raced with thoughts of what could've been, and what might never be.
Vegas thought 'why didn't he show up, something must be wrong' and decided to give Great another chance. He sent another message saying, "Hey, I understand if something came up. But I really do want to meet you. If you're still interested, let's try again. I won't take up much of your time, I promise."
Days passed and there was no reply. Vegas couldn't shake the feeling that something was off. His curiosity grew stronger than his disappointment. He knew he had to find Great, to understand what was happening. He turned to the only person who might have an idea of where Great could be, Macau.
"Hey Macau, I got a question for you."
"What's up, bro?" Macau says.
Vegas with his stern voice says, "I'm having a dangerous feeling that something has happened to Great, I can't seem to geta. Hold of Hi. And we were meant to catch up a while ago, you wouldn't know where he is?"
And Macau just looked scared and said, "no, if he didn't show up might be best to ask Tyme. He is his boyfriend after all."
Vegas nodded slowly and took a deep breath before he dialed Tyme's number, but he didn't get an answer it went straight to voice mail.
"Tyme, this is Vegas, I hope you're okay. I know this might be weird but I've been trying to get hold of Great. He wanted to meet up and never showed. If you know anything, please call me back." He hung up feeling more anxious than before.
Days turned into weeks with no word from Great or Tyme. Vegas couldn't shake the feeling that something was amiss. He threw himself into his work, burying his emotions in paperwork and strategy sessions. His lieutenants noticed the change in him, the shadows under his eyes, the tension in his jaw. They knew better than to pry, though. Vegas had always been a private person, even with those closest to him.
Still nothing was heard from Tyme or Great, Vegas knew that something was up and he had his men look into it.
He can't lose his brother or brother in-law, he needs to find them, and fast, and because he really wants to get to know his twin.
