Upon arrival at the abandoned hospital, it looked untouched, but it was harder to find because of overgrown trees and bushes. Two vehicles were parked by the entrance of the gate, at least they were still there. The moon grew higher and higher into the sky making Veronica more on edge, with every hour her powers would grow stronger, but so would other creatures that lurk in the dark.
"Alright let's some ground rules." Chris started.
"Ground rules?"
"Yeah, we need ground rules. If things get risky or intense then we flee with Lizz. I can't get into trouble with those idiots." Pushing up his glasses again.
"For once, I think we are on the same page, Nerd. I don't like this place or the crowd that's here."
The two made their way to the spot of the entrance, it was just where the chainlink fence had been cut for people to get through. The place was eerie, from the fact it was a hospital, but also the place where so much sorrow took place and death. It grew like a chill on Veronica, the perfect place to summon someone or do dark magic because of the energy around.
"This place isn't that bad." Chris stood at the entrance after walking up the long driveway. Veronica turned to the boy like he was a bit crazy, but she agreed. The building had pink hues that seemed welcoming, besides the fact the place was falling apart. Milldue and other disturbing smells filled the air.
"You think they would clean this place up, maybe then they would get more people coming to this place." Chris turned on the flashlights and handed one over to Veronica.
"I think it would be more financially smart to take this place down." She chuckled before stepping over a beam on the ground.
"Whatever happened to this place?"
"My mother said this place was hiding secrets and some of the surgeons were making unnatural things with human remains."
"That checks out." Chriss kicked an empty beer can away. "You think they are on this floor?"
"I think they wouldn't be dumb enough to go far from the entrance, but we are talking about Will and his friends." Laughter echoed throughout the halls.
"We may have found a lead, Watson." She stopped in her tracks to turn and look at the boy.
"I prefer Watson over Vern."
"Really?"
"Vern is grody." The two walked down the baby blue halls listening for more noises that may lead them to the group of idoits. Water was on the floor, raising more concerns between the two. The cartoon-like paintings on the wall made one wonder if it was the children's wing that they were headed down. More noises came from down the hallway, giving relief to Sherlock and Waston as they were headed down the right path. More growth took place along the walls the farther they went, with water at hand.
"So tell me why they would come here to drink?" Chris pointed his flashlight into the rooms as they kept going.
"Beats me Chrissy, but I do know we are getting closer because I smell spilled beer."
"You think Vern is bad, but call me Chrissy. Now that's harsh." Veronica stepped further before almost stepping on a rat. A screech came from her as she jumped back into Chris. "Calm down Vern, it's a rat."
"Vial things they are." Veronica had her hate for rodents, when she was younger a rat bit her finger clean off, but it was someone familiar. That's all she needed for her to despise the small creatures. She looked at the finger that had been reattached with magic, but the scar was still there.
