                                                  Avinav's POV

I ran in the showering rain. Damn it, does the rain have to occur only when I run late? Typically unfair. I looked at the sun peaking through the clouds as a smile crept up on my face. I looked at my own clothing, completely drenched and soaked. "The Manager is going to taunt me on this, isn't she?" I sighed to myself as I made my way towards my office building.

I rushed along the crowded elevator sighing as I scrolled through my phone for a bit. A ton of messages flooded through my phone, most of them being messages from my colleagues and a few other friends inviting me to go out with them. I sighed and as I reached my floor, I seated myself in my cubicle. It wasn't an ideal cabin but it was more than comfortable and spacious. "Morning Avinav." Greeted me my colleagues. I replied in a monotonous "Good morning" to most of them.

Some of them stared at me, blinking in confusion and then went back to their respective cubicles, whispering to each other. "Avinav looks a little sad today, doesn't he?" Whispered one of them as the other replied "True, something must've happened." OH COME ON, JUST BECAUSE I'M NOT THE EPITOME OF SUNSHINE TODAY DOESN'T MEAN THAT A TRAGEDY OCCURED IN MY LIFE. HAPPINESS AND SADNESS AREN'T THE ONLY EMOTIONS IN MY LIFE, I CAN FEEL NEUTRAL AS WELL, DEAR LORD.

I had always put on a facade of a smiling sunshine face in front of them, though most of the time it's a facade. I'm the perfect candidate, able to do anything and everything handed to me with no complaints...or at least that is what they think of me. But hey, being perfect comes with a price, no? The prices I pay are worth being the perfect goody two shoes I am...right? I worked the rest of the day in automatic mode. This was my routine. Everything happens today EXACTLY like it happened yesterday, no changes whatsoever. It had been AGES since a change occurred in my life and I was pretty grateful for it, I guess.

Just like that, the day ended. Yeah, I know. Time flies pretty quickly when you keep doing the same thing over and over and over. Time paces a LOT quicker. It really does. I was shaken out from my thoughts by my manager. Oh dear, here she comes. "Mr. Avinav Rajput." She smiled at me, cheekily. "Pulling the full name, aren't we? Yes, what do you need manager?" I asked with a feigned smile. "We all colleagues are going out to drink today. You should join us." She smiled, cheekily.

"Drinking? Oh, no manager, I'm sorry but I won't be able to join you. I don't...drink." I said, slightly bowing in apology. "Don't drink? Oh come on. How much more perfect can you get?" She joked as I gave her a half hearted awkward smile. "When was the last time you had a drink, eh? Highschool?" Another one of my seniors joked as others laughed. "I'm pretty sure I was underage back then, so no you fucking fool, I DIDN'T drink back when I was in highschool because I was too busy studying instead of sleeping around like your useless ass." Is what I WANTED to say...but I didn't. I just laughed it off. I just let ANYONE walk all over me, don't I?

My manager shut him up and rubbed my shoulder, lovingly. "Come on, Avinav. Live a little." She gave me a motherly smile as I stared right back at her with a slightly more energetic smile. I grabbed her hand and gave her a reassuring nod. "I am living. Besides, you don't need alcohol to live." I chuckled trying to divert the situation. She wasn't talking about alcohol and I knew that. I gave them all a smile and said "Though, you all enjoy your evening." I smiled and left, without turning back as I could feel my manager's eyes burning into my back.

I put on my long coat over my three piece suit. It was getting quite chilly. I've seen such long coats in K-Dramas that my younger cousin watches a lot and thought that they would be helpful during winters and damn right they are. I checked my phone once again, hey, I know I'm addicted but it's my only friend. Among the mountains of messages, I noticed a unique one. It was...from an old classmate...

Hmm? Odd? He never texted me before this?

(Author - The 'Hmm?" reminded me so much of Rajveer lmaooooooo😭😭
Raj - Why? Go to you favourite children, why don't ya? 😒😒
Author - Come on baby, that was a joke😭
Bestie - Didn't seem like one to me. Didn't you say how Yuvi is the best character you ever wrote?😏😏
Author - I NEVER SAID THAT YOU LYING BISH.  YOU GONNA GET ME KILLED
Raj - Hmm?🔪)

I opened the message to see what it was all about. The message held an e-pamplet of some sort. It was a rather adorable shade of pink with some party decorations. "Now what is all this about?" I mumbled to myself as a smile came to my lips, reading the contents of the pamphlet along with my classmate's akward voice message.

"Hey, Avinav. I know that we haven't talked in like...a LONG time, but, uh..., there is a highschool reunion coming up, uhm...so, we- I mean- you should come...I mean, we kind of made invitations according to the number of students that we thought would come and according to our friends groups since it's like...not an official reunion from our school, since you know our school never does that kind of stuff, haha... So, I made a pamphlet for a few of my friends but one of them cancelled last minute so I dug up your number to invite you cause you know, we can't let the pamphlet go to waste, haha... So...the information is in the pamphlet and...yeah."

The voice message ended. So basically, I wouldn't have been invited if one of his friends wouldn't have cancelled. The reunion was the day after tomorrow so they basically invited me the last. Wow, that was giving me some hard high school nostalgia. Always being left out...Cool... Should I check it out? I mean, there isn't any point. There isnt really anyone I could "reunite" with considering I was pretty much friendless. I focused too much on my studies and was a HUGE nerd so it wasn't really a surprise that they didn't invite me u til last minute.

Though, there is one thing I wonder about, one man that I wonder about. Him. I wonder if he was invited? I mean, it would be a surprise if he wasn't. He was the most popular boy in our entire school. Girls fawned over him and his typical delinquent and bad boy behaviour. He was my ARCH NEMESIS during high school. He was my worst enemy. We both fought with knifes at each other's throats.

( Author - Damn, you got some kinks.
Avinav - IT WAS A METAPHOR.
Bestie - 😏😏🔪🔪
Author - 😏😏🔪🔪
Avinav - OH FOR FUCK'S SAKE)

Maybe I should check it out? Hey, if not to reunite with friends, then for free food, huh? Let's...check it out. Though...do I really wanna see his annoying face once again? Maybe not...I don't want to see him again...right?

(Author - Oh you wanna meet him so bad, don't you.
Avi - NO)
