~Alexander Hamilton~
Oh. My. God. Why is James doing this to me? I can't believe it's already been a month since we moved here. I don't wanna start high school this late in the year! Ugh, screw it. Maybe.. high school won't be so bad? I mean, sure it's like the middle of the year and I'll be 'the new kid', but.. maybe..?
"Alex! You need a ride there?" I jumped a little as my brother, James, yelled from the small kitchen. We had a small 1 bedroom apartment. Sure, it wasn't that elegant or roomy, but it was what we could afford.
"Uhm, yeah. I don't really know where the school is yet" I called back. I still couldn't believe James didn't let me just be homeschooled. It would have been so much easier for me. For some reason, James really wants me to start socializing. I doubt sending me to high school is going to help with that, though.
~Time Skip~
I waved at my brother as I got out of the car and closed the door. This was it, my start at Columbia High. I tried (and failed) to calm myself as I walked through the school doors.
The hallways were crowded and noisy. I tried to find my locker number, which was 1776, or at least that's what my information paper thingy says. I eventually found it (after like 10 minutes of being pushed around) near the senior counselors office.
As I got to it, I noticed 3 other boys near the locker across from mine. They were acting just like everyone else, loud. I turned my attention back to my locker and tried to open it. After like, 10 failing attempts I finally opened it and started to put my books in it.
After I was done, the bell rang. I closed my locker and made my way to my first period class.
Room 1799 was my History class, taught by.. professor Washington, or something like that. I walked in and the teacher hadn't arrived yet. I glanced around the room, and found the only empty desk to be next to a kid in the back.
I made my way over to it. The kid seemed to be sketching some turtles on a sketchpad (you know, cuz loose paper doesn't exist in this world).
"Uh, hey, is this seat taken?" I asked, my voice coming out a bit too shaky than I would have liked. The boy glanced up.
"Uh, no." He said simply, then continued to draw. I bit my lip and sat down on the edge of the seat, putting my small bag on the floor.
The boy finished his sketch then looked back at me. "Sorry, uhm, I'm John Laurens. You're the new kid, right?"
As he looked up, I noticed his face.
Freckles. Wow.
