Chapter 21

Once in trouble

Mu Ze'an didn't want to go back, but his feet moved involuntarily faster.

When he got closer, he saw that the host and the husband were each eating a bowl of porridge on the small wooden table, while on the other side of the stove, there was a full bowl of porridge covered with three thick slices of meat, which were emitting a greasy glow.

Mu Zean heard the husband say, "What are you standing there for? Go eat."

Then the owner said, "Why is this child so dull today? He doesn't look very smart."

Mu Ze'an grinned. People said he was not smart, but his smile was brighter than that of a fool.

Su Gu kept putting meat into Gu Yuan's bowl. Seeing that Gu Yuan drank most of the porridge in the bowl in just a few gulps, he couldn't help but persuade him: "Eat slowly, husband. There's more in the pot."

Gu Yuan nodded: "I'm just greedy. I haven't had white rice porridge for a long time." Then he picked up two pieces of meat for Su Gu.

He has never eaten a proper meal of rice since he came to this world. For Gu Yuan, whose stomach has been nurtured by rice and steamed buns, this brown rice porridge full of plump rice grains is already a luxury.

Su Gu ate slowly, and most of the meat slices were put into Gu Yuan's bowl by him. Gu Yuan simply fed him directly, and they ate up all the rice in the pot one bite at a time.
