The forest around her had transformed, the trees looming closer, twisted and silent as if holding their breath. Shadows deepened, and a heavy, unnatural stillness settled in, like the calm that comes before a storm. Natsu and Happy were lost in the darkness, and her calls for them echoed back in an empty, distorted silence.

Lucy's heart pounded. She turned back to the hunter, his form more ominous than ever. He watched her, a knowing smile tugging at the corners of his mouth as if he had orchestrated this isolation. It was just him and her now, his shadowy figure unmoved, and Lucy felt the weight of the forest pressing down on her like it, too, had joined his side.

His's voice came, low and chilling. "Your friends can't help you now. This is between you and me, celestial mage."

Lucy's hands tightened on her keys, her pulse racing as she steeled herself.

"Loki!" she called, feeling the familiar warmth of determination spreading through her. She summoned the celestial spirit she felt safest with, the Lion of the Zodiac. As she turned her focus inward, the familiar glow of magic enveloped her, the air shimmering as the gate opened with a brilliant flash of light.

Loki materialized beside her, his golden mane shimmering like sunlight through the trees. His expression shifted from surprise to concern when he took in their opponent.

"Orion?" Loki called into the darkness, surprise and concern lacing his voice.

Lucy's mind raced as she realized Orion's true nature. He was also a spirit. Was he contracted to a celestial mage, or had he been living here? Surely, he wouldn't have much time left. The pieces began to fall into place. The hunter, once a great celestial being, now hunted spirits in a desperate bid to maintain his own power in the human realm. He was consuming them to gain celestial energy, tethering himself to this world at their expense.

Orion's chilling laughter cut through her thoughts. "Ah, the lion, a fitting companion for you, Lucy. But I've no time for distractions. Hand over your keys, and I might spare your precious spirit."

Loki's expression darkened, protective instinct flaring within him. "You think we'll just let you take them? We won't stand by while you hunt innocent spirits!"

Lucy felt the weight of her keys at her waist, the connection to her celestial spirits coursing through her. "I won't let you use them to feed your dark power, Orion. They're not tools for you to exploit!"

A flicker of anger crossed Orion's face, quickly masked by a veneer of calm. "You don't understand the danger you're inviting by clinging to these spirits. They are mere shadows of their true potential, and you are wasting their power."

"Or maybe," Lucy shot back defiantly, "you're the one who's wasting your own potential by hunting them down!"

Orion's smile twisted into something dark and predatory. "You have spirit, Lucy. But spirit alone won't save you. The forest recognizes strength, and it will not hesitate to consume those who stand in my way."

With a swift motion, he summoned dark energy that crackled and pulsed around him. Lucy could feel the oppressive weight of it, but she also felt the light of her spirits pushing back against the shadows. She glanced at Loki, who nodded, ready for whatever came next.

"Together, we'll show you what true power is," Lucy declared, her voice firm despite the fear coursing through her.
