Rentaro wakes up with a thumping headache. "You sure woke up fast; it only took you a couple of hours," Sunny says with a straight face. "Were you trying to kill me or something?" Rentaro asks, confused. "Well, of course not. I didn't like your rudeness. Attitude makes a person, after all." she responds, leaning on the door. "What is with you and that dumb general saying that shitty one-liner," Rentaro says, annoyed. "I agree Akira is dumb, but that so-called one-liner is true nonetheless. She proceeds to walk out of the room, and Rentaro follows. They walk downstairs into what looks to be a flower shop. "So this is the shop the General was talking about," Rentaro says, looking around. "Well, this is where you will stay for a while, so get familiar." She says, taking a seat at the front desk. "Where is the General," Rentaro asks while picking up pots. "Well, he had to head back due to work; you aren't the brightest one, are you," Sunny responds.
Rentaro looks at Sunny with slight annoyance. "Do you have to be rude to every response?" Rentaro asks, trying to be respectful. "I only respond with what I am dealt with," she says, stretching in her seat. "But on a serious note, since you are here, how about we get you to work," she says with a sinister grin. "Alright, Ren, how about you go around the city and deliver these flowers for me." she continues. "Firstly, my name is Rentaro; secondly, I don't think I was supposed to work like an employee as a form of rehab. Ren answers. "As long as you are under my supervision, you are supposed to do what I say unless you want me to write you up," she says mockingly. Rentaro holds back his remarks and listens intently to ensure he doesn't mess up. "First, you will stop by Mrs.Faust's Pet Shop and deliver these gladioluses, and then you will head over to the police station and drop off these black-eyed sunflowers," she says while shifting a plant on her desk. "Is that all?" Ren asks. "Yes, that should be all unless you want more work?" she responds straightly. "I'll pass on that; thank you," Ren responds, grabbing the pots. "Hold on, you grab the wrong flower," she says, throwing a pot at Ren. A hand made of air manifests, catching the pot before it hits the ground.
Ren starts walking around with the pots of flowers, stopping by the pet shop as requested. As Rentaro heads into the pet shop, he finds what seems to be a soft-spoken-looking young woman.
"Oh, are you the new assistant at the flower shop?" the woman asks Ren while petting a puppy. Ignoring the question, Ren sets down a pot of gladioluses. "Here you go, ma'am. He says plainly. "She hired quite the personality," she says sweetly. Ren senses a very calming aura coming from her direction. As he looks over, a blissful blue hue shines from her eyes as if she were about to activate her abilities. "No need to be scared, boy; you remind me of my little brother, that's all," she says warmly. "How so?" Ren questions. "To put it simply, you seem to know nothing about this world but hate it with every fiber of your being," she says bluntly. "You don't know me, so don't act like a preacher," Ren says coldly. Ren attempts to leave the shop but feels his body freeze as if time has stopped. "You are naive. I'm still determining what Sunny sees in you, but lemme explain something to you," she says plainly. "This world of alternating between blessings and curses isn't where acting spiteful takes you far; you may hate the world all you want, but if you make no efforts to change it, that makes you a fool."
Variants are still human people who were either blessed at birth or got a stroke of luck throughout a point and time in their life would gain abilities that can alter the planes of their reality, either changing themselves or things around them, granting them free passage to do whatever they want or at least that's what Ren thought. "These abilities do not give you free rain to act like a hot shot. The Spectrum has existed in this world since the dawn of time. Just luck allowed a few people to harness it to manifest powers." she explains. She releases Ren from the time stop. "Why are you telling me all of this?" Ren says, staying alert. "I don't want you ending up like my brother; dying for hatred is foolish," she says, petting the dog again. "I want you just to understand. You may think you know how the world works, but you haven't seen how dark it can get," she says coldly. "Thanks for the lecture, Ms-" Ren says while trying to guess her name. "It's Mrs.Faust," she responds with a sweet smile.
Ren leaves the shop with a cold sweat running down his face. He didn't know she was a variant. He reluctantly makes his way to the police station. As he walks down the street, he sees someone with a ski mask sprinting down the road, and they seem to be holding a purse. Soon after, a woman hollering at the top of her lungs comes chasing after the masked assailant. Ren, trying his best to pay her no mind, tries to walk past her, but she latches on to him, asking for help. Ren, with nothing better to do, grunts while handing her the pot he was supposed to deliver to the police station. "Can you please take this to the police station?" Ren says while turning to sprint after the masked man. He starts running after the man and notices he stole a motorbike to gain distance. "Good luck catching me, dumbass," the masked man says with an ecstatic face. "Oh, don't worry, I won't need luck," Ren hollers. Ren proceeds to focus his attention on the vehicle, and with his hand stretched out, his eyes start glowing white as his powers activate, creating a wall of air, stopping the motorbike and allowing the masked man to land in some bushes. "Well, ain't that something," a police officer says in amusement. Ren turns to find a man with grey hair and a nicely trimmed beard. "You did a good job, young man," he says with a haughty laugh. "You must be that rehabilitation candidate Akira was boasting about," he continues while walking over to Ren. Ren backs up instinctively as if he felt a slight chill run down his spine. "What's wrong? I don't bite," the man says jokingly. "Sorry about that, Ronan," a familiar voice says from behind Ren. He turns to find Sunny standing there with her hands on her hips. "He isn't a people person," she says, putting Ren in a headlock. "Hey, let me go-" Ren says, trying to break free. "Well, I was just heading to your shop to thank you for the flowers. It was quite the refreshment to receive them from you," Ronan says with a big smile.
Ren and Sunny start walking back to the flower shop in silence. "I never expected you to be the social type," Ren says, trying to break the silence. "Different people call for different forms of communication as your relations differ with different people," she responds. "I am not a teacher, but there is much for you to learn." Sunny stops for a second and turns toward Ren. "You are a good kid, so don't force yourself to hate the world," she says sincerely. Sunny grabs Ren's hand and sprints past the island shop into a fantastic flower field. "There is more to love in the world than the hate you carry; don't ignore pretty things and try to learn to love something, okay?" she says, patting Ren's head. He was too stunned to speak because of the beauty of the field; the vibrance and the amount of flowers there left him awe-struck.
Sunny, trying to also take in the eye-catching scene, receives a phone call. She is reluctant to pick it up and decides to do so anyway. "Hello, this is Sunny. Who is it," she asks. "Это Вито, мне снова нужна твоя помощь, тихий." a woman responds. "English, please," Sunny says in annoyance. "I need your services again, Sunny." the woman says. Sunny walks away from the field to give Ren time to sink in the emotion he feels; she proceeds to head back to the flower shop to get ready for another day.
