Chapter 2// Hazel Grace

You know, I thought this walk to the principal's office would have been cool and totally awesome. I thought wrong, it was the total opposite because the walk to principal Morgan's office was so awkward and sketchy I just didn't like it. I tried making conversation with her but the only two words I got out of her were 'yeah, okay'. I literally tried so hard not to yell at her to speak to me like she speaks to Jack.

"You may go in" said Mykala. "Thank you"

"Yeah, okay" see what I mean?? I rolled my eyes and went in to the office, I took a seat and patiently waited for Morgan to get off her computer "Ah yes, Austin Chase" I awkwardly smiled and she chuckled.

"Congratulations, you got accepted to Washington State University" my mouth literally dropped at the splendid news "Really?" She nodded and handed me the envelope "I just got informed by the school that you must go to Washington to get your classes situated for next year, you are going to be there for two weeks and you will be required to come back a day after." Wow, Washington state university? I looked at the principal and said "Thank you Principal Morgan" she smiled at me and motioned for me to leave for the remainder of lunch. I nodded and got out, once I was out I looked up and sighed happily "I made it mom and dad"

"That is such great news Austin!" I nodded and smiled at Hazel Grace "Yeah it is, but then that means I won't be able to see you for two weeks" she made a farting noise and poked my cheek "I could honestly care less if I saw you or not" I fake gasped and put my hand over my heart "Ouch, that kills" she laughed and lightly slapped my cheek "What is it with you physically abusing my cheeks?" She giggled and pinched my cheeks "I don't know, they're just so squishy and soft. Not to mention they always have a slight hint of red which makes it look like you're blushing" I swatted her hands away as rubbed my cheeks "Leave my cheeks alone" I said as I pouted. She looked at me and smiled "Aww Chase your pout is so adorable with those cheeks" I groaned and banged my head on the table

"You're driving me insane Hazel Grace" I heard her chuckle and say "But you like me anyways" I smiled and lifted my head up to see Winter and Mykala heading over to us "Oh god, oh god." Hazel Grace looked at me with confusion until she followed my eyes and immediately turned back around to look at me "Act natural. Don't act so lovey dovey with me but act like you really, really like me." I nodded and ate a fry, which Hazel Grace took one of my fries "Hey! My food you booger" she stuck out her tongue and I chuckled at her childish behavior "Hey guys" I looked up and seen Winter sending daggers to Hazel Grace, Hazel avoided eye contact with her and looked down at her hands. I gently pushed her over so I could put my arms around her protectively and kissed her head "There's this party going on at Winters house and we are going around inviting everybody personally. Do you guys want to come?" Hazel Grace was playing with my fingers and totally not interested in this conversation "Um I don't know its up to Hazel Grace, I was kind of hoping to spend this weekend alone with her. Do you want to go love?" She looked up at me and thought about it "Sure but only for a little bit"

"Awesome" said Mykala. God she was so beautiful, Jack is one lucky bastard "See you guys Saturday" I nodded and gave one last look to Mykala before looking down at Hazel Grace. "Looks like we have a party to attend to babe" she groaned and got out of my embrace, her phone rang indicating someone was calling her. She looked at the caller ID and groaned again "Okay you have stop groaning" she looked at me and groaned "Jesus" she laughed and walked away to answer the phone, here I was sat alone eating fries and a burger but Winter came and sat by me "Hey Austin" I looked at her and said "Sup" very proper introduction, I know but I do not like Winter Jay. I know its bad considering the fact that she is my crush's best friend but Winter and I will never be able to get along. She thinks I like her but its not true "Look I was wondering if maybe you would wan-" she was cut off by Mykala slapping her arm and saying "Hoe, told you not to ditch me!" Winter laughed and pulled Mykala down to sit with me "Sorry I just wanted to properly say hi to Austin, I won't do it again. I promise"
"Mhmm whatever" Mykala looked at me and smiled, lord have mercy on me. Am I breathing okay? I think my breathing is off omg "So you're the famous Austin Chase that everybody is always drooling over and somehow have my best friend crushing on you" I chuckled and ate another fry, wow these fries are really good. So much flavor and this ketchup woww "Its nice to meet you, I'm Mykala Anderson if you don't know" oh I know, we met less then 2 years ago but you'll never know that because you just barely knew I existed "Its nice to meet you"

"So you and Hazel huh?" I nodded at Mykala and smiled making them think I am thinking about her but I'm actually thinking about you Mykala "She's cute, I see why you chose her" After that statement Winter glared at Mykala, I chuckled nervously and smiled at Mykala and Winter. Mykala did the same and said "Did you know that when you smile, you get this little dimple on the the right side of your mouth? Its freaking adorable" I almost choked on my fry but I held it in and played it cool, shortly after she said this Hazel Grace came "Hey, everything okay with the phone call?" She nodded and sighed "Yeah everything's peachy" I pulled her close to me and gave her a bunch of kisses "Austin!" She giggled because I kept kissing her and kissing her "You like my kisses you booger, don't even deny it" she shook her head and laughed. Mykala cleared her throat to get our attention "Oh sorry" I chuckled nervously and Hazel Grace looked at Mykala with confused eyes "Oh we were just here to say hi to Austin, but we can leave if you guys need to talk" Hazel Grace shook her head and grabbed her bag, since she didn't really eat lunch she didn't have to throw her tray away. Hazel was about to leave but I held her arm and brought her back to me "You forgot something" she rolled her eyes and gave me a peck on the cheek "Seriously Hazel Grace?" She laughed and replaced it with a kiss on my lips, once she was done she looked at me and said "Happy now?" I nodded and gave her a cheesy smile which she chuckled to "I have to go. But I'll see you later, bye guys" with that she left. I happily sighed and watched her walk away, I wonder if she knows she looks really good walking away "You guys are like my boyfriend Jack and I. Its so cute"

I looked at her with an intense look, I noticed Winter left to go flirt with Jack pfft what a sucker "Can I ask you something?" She nodded and put her hands on her chin

"Do you think you can ask Hazel how much she likes me? I love hearing her say 'I like you' and if I know that she tells other people that too then she must really like me" Mykala nodded and smiled at me "How much do you like her?" I gave her another intense stare and breathed out "I don't" she looked at me confused yet wide eyed "Then-"

"I love her" her expression fell, but she quickly changed it with a smile. Not just any smile but a fake one, I don't know whether I should feel proud or angry that I made her feel like this. Is she jealous?

"I can see why Winter likes you so much"

"Why?" She looked at me and said "Because you know how to treat girls unlike other guys around here, you look at Hazel the same way any girl would want a guy to look them, you look at her like she's the only girl in the world. You make her feel loved and special, sometimes that's all a girl likes about a guy. The way they treat a girl and plus you being fucking attractive is a plus" I lightly blushed and looked away, I caught eyes with Jack and he glared at me, I rolled my eyes and looked away. Asshole.

I was about to speak when I seen Hazel Grace run into the lunch room crying "I'll be back" I said to Mykala. I stood up and saw Hazel's eyes scan everywhere until they found Winter, she ran towards Winter and slapped her. Winter gasped and this caught everyone's attention, I pushed past people to get close to Hazel "How could you?" Winter rubbed her cheek as Mykala hugged her "How could I what?"

"You knew how much she meant to me, she was my best friend and you had to ruin her!" I grabbed Hazel and calmed her down "Calm down Hazel Grace" she shook her head

"No! Winter are you happy now? You finally got your wish! She's dead, Ruby is dead" after that it got silent, Ruby White is known as Hazel Grace's best friend since diapers. They were more like sisters and from what I heard, everyone thinks she's weird but I always thought she was a badass to die for diva, not to mention her beauty. She's a look alike to Marilyn Monroe and she was just beautiful

"What?" Finally Winter spoke, everyone was still quiet and all you could hear was Hazel's sobbing "You finally got what you wanted. I hope you burn in hell Winter Jay" with that Hazel stormed out of the lunch room, I shot daggers to Winter and was about to run out of the lunch room when the intercom went off "Good afternoon Oregon High, on behalf of this announcement I want to announce something that is very tragic. One of our fellow pirates has passed away, Ruby White was a beautiful and smart young Lady and it is heart breaking among the dance team, students, staff and family. My condolences go out to everyone, let's take 10 seconds of peace for Ruby White" I clenched my jaw and looked at Winter "You happy now?" She looked down and you could hear some people sobbing "Once a pirate, always a pirate." And the intercom stopped talking. I rushed to find Hazel and found her sitting on the corner of the benches outside, her quiet sobs were running through my head and all I wanted to do was hurt Winter but I vowed to never hit or even hurt the opposite sex no matter the situation. Right now I need to comfort Hazel Grace.
