VII: Invasions Across the Realms

On the same evening when the wedding was happening in Askr, all of the invited guests across the different realms that were open to the entirety of Midgard, Nifl, Múspell, Niðavellir, and Jötunheimr were all getting ready to attend the wedding. However, none of them knew, or even expected the following events that were about to happen...

Waiting at the bridge with their guards, both Laegjarn and Laevatein were looking at the other side of said bridge as the sun was beginning to set. "Hey," Laegjarn spoke to her sister and she looks back at her, "how are you going to feel about visiting Askr? Not as conquers like how father had envisioned, but as guests of the wedding?" Laevatein thought about it, "Even though it had been years since I had personally saw the Order of Heroes, as the current Ruler of Múspell however, respect must be shown towards our friends." Arriving to the bridge were the Niflese Royal Family, Hríd, Ylgr, and Fjorm. "Princess Laegjarn!" Fjorm rushed towards her and the two girls hugged each other tightly and kissed each other on the cheek. Laegjarn looks at the other two siblings, "King Hríd, Princess Ylgr, nice to see you two again!" She greets them. "Nice to meet you too as well, Princess Laegjarn." Hríd greets her. Laegjarn then looks down to talk to Ylgr, "And how are you feeling, Princess Ylgr?" "I am quite excited to witness the wedding!" Ylgr responds to her.

Laevatein then spoke up, "Wait, weren't the newly weds enemies at one point?" Fjorm looks at her, "You mean Alfonse and Veronica, right?" She nods, "I could've sworn that she wanted to kill him at one point." "I think that was the case. I'm particularly surprised that they both fell in love with each other." Fjorm responds. "Anyways, I can only hope that the wedding is going well when we arrive." Laevatein spoke to them. They all cheered except for Hríd, who was looking at the sky. "What's wrong?" Laegjarn asks him. "What's that?" Hríd responds to her as he's pointing at the sky. All of the girls looked at the direction he was pointing and they all see two objects falling from the sky. "Are those... meteorites?" Laveatein asked.

The two objects crashed in Midgard and the explosion impact was heard and seen from their own positions. "Everyone, look!" Hríd pointed at the bridge and they see an unknown barrier falling at the other end of said bridge. "What is happening?" Ylgr asked. "I don't know, but I don't like it at all." Fjorm responds to her little sister. "I don't even think that is supposed to happen at all." The only thing both the Múspellian's and Niflese's can do is return to their domains and prepare for what is about to come. Watching from the attic tundra, Nifl glares at the unknown barrier, "Something isn't right. Not even during the events of Ragnarök had caused something like this." She retreats into the forest.

Across the Continent of Zenith lies another bridge, this time to the kingdoms of both Niðavellir and Jötunheimr. The barrier has also been lowered ever since both the Ark and the Nemesis had crashed onto Midgard...

Reginn and Dagr were observing the barrier. "Jeez, that sure is the first to happen." Reginn spoke to the Queen of Jötunheimr. "Yeah, just what caused this to happen? The two meteors that crashed here?" Dagr asked. "I think that's the case." She responds to her. The floating machine next to Reginn tapped her, "Hm? What's wrong?" It starts beeping rapidly and looks directly at Askr. "Hey, what's going on?" Reginn asks again. It then moves close to her and activates its telescope. "Alright let's see what's..." She sees something flying in the distance and heading towards Askr. "Is going on?"

Dagr looks at the same direction Reginn was looking at, "What are you looking at?" "I don't know." Reginn zooms in at the castle and sees explosions rocking the castle. She lets out a gasp of terror. "What happened?" Dagr asks. Reginn looks away from her machine and at Dagr, "Askr is under attack!" She raises her eyes in surprise, "What?!" She looks at the direction where Askr is and sees a small smoke cloud rising. "What do you think is going to happen now?" "Who knows. Also, whatever attacked Askr are made completely of steel. But not like the steel in Niðavellir." Reginn and Dagr looked at each other, "So what you're saying is that Askr is being attacked by invaders from a completely different realm?" She asks her. "That's probably the best theory we'll have." Reginn responds. "And we are helpless since we can't cross the barrier. We can only prepare and get the defenses ready." Dagr nodded and the two respected Queens returned back to their kingdoms.
