Listening to Amelia's new song, "So High School," made me think the lyrics might be about me. Just the idea made my heart racing, and I couldn't help but hope that the song was about me.
"You know how to ball, I knowAristotle."
It has to be about me, right? I mean, I'm a footballer—I can definitely "ball." Or maybe it refers to another player from the group chat. Regardless, I desperately want to be the inspiration behind this song. It's a beautifully created love song, and every word felt like it was meant for me. Or maybe I was just too egoistic?
Finally convincing myself to call Amelia took a while, but I did it, even though I immediately regretted the decision. It was already too late to back out; I could have made up an excuse, but I refused to be a coward. I wanted to congratulate her on what was clearly an instant hit. The song exploded in popularity, with the music video racking millions of views and countless streams. There was no doubt it would top the charts soon.
"Hey!" I recognized her soft Spanish accent, which enveloped me in warmth. "What's up?"
"Hi! I just listened to your new song!"
"No surprise, my number one fan!" she laughed, and I couldn't help but smile. Yes, I was a little bit too obsessed fan. "What did you think about it?"
"It was perfect, of course. But that's no shock—you always produce amazing tracks." I had to ask, "But seriously, who are the lyrics about? A footballer, perhaps?" I asked in a teasing tone.
"It could be," she replied, now teasing me back.
"And who is this mystery guy? Do I know him?"
"Maybe. He's quite handsome, plays for Real Madrid, and has a charming British accent," she teased. My grin widened, and I was grateful that nobody could see my reaction.
"Hmm, sounds like he's a lucky guy to have a song written for him by Amelia Sainz—a truly special song."
"How do you think he would feel about this song if he realized it was about him?" she asked, her voice softening.
"I believe his heart would swell with joy, and he'd feel a rush of excitement that might make him think it could leap out of his chest," I replied, sharing my honest thoughts. "He would likely feel like the luckiest guy in the world."
After a moment of silence, I decided to continue. "Would you be interested in meeting up sometime? I'll have some free time coming up."
"Absolutely, I would love that," she responded quietly.
"Great! Let's work out the details later, okay? I need to head to practice now, but I just wanted to reach out and congratulate you." I prepared to say goodbye.
"Okay. Bye, Jude," she said.
"Bye, Amelia." I hang up the phone. Damn, my heart is beating so fast, it maybe actually leap out from my chest.
