Chapter 1 - Blueprints of Tension

At Imperial Heights Academy

I was on my way walking towards Mrs. Zehra Azim's office she is the head of chemistry department to submit my year end project which took me about three whole months and insane level of hours to get it done.

Once I reached her office room I knocked and peaked in

"Come on in Myra" she said with the warm smile that she always carries

"Good afternoon ma'am I am here for the annual project submission" I told her as I handed her out the files

Once she took it from me she went through each paper presented thoroughly while reading it through her round framed specs

"Very well Myra your efforts are clearly seen in your presentation you took this project as a solo work am I right ?"

"Yes ma'am" I replied

"Well good to know I will make sure this project gets submitted to the examiners by this weekend" She said "Also I would like to discuss something with you can you please have a seat"

Okay now this is concerning what does she has to talk to m- I was interrupted by a knock on the door as someone comes in

"May I come in maam ?" Asked an extremely annoying voice which I recognized in milliseconds it was someone I hate with my whole heart Adeen Reis.

Author's Pov;
Adeen is someone who has an athletic and toned physique, tall 6'2 with a warm light brown skin tone his hair often falling slightly over his forehead but kept under control. It's the kind of effortlessly messy style that looks well-kept yet casual Adeen's eyes are a captivating shade of deep brown, with sharp intensity.

Girls die for him but I want to make him die.
He comes in his P.E uniform and flashing a smile at Mrs. Zehra.

Adeen and I don't have peace within our dictionary towards each other. For the past twelve years of our lives we have been competing against each other in every single academic related aspect and this time I am going ahead of him in the race.

But one thing though no matter how bad the situation is Adeen always finds a way to to sort it out at the same time just because he is one of the high scorer of the school he doesn't stick with the books all the time I know he does more extra circular activities than academics but some how he manages to excel in both of them Am I jealous? Of course why is that even a question.

Will I ever admit this? I rather get hit by a bus.

Mine and Adeen's interactions aren't just limited to school unfortunately our parents know each-other pretty well. Ugh. They have been partners for several years and due to this reason we both keep on bumping into each other at our parents private occasions and functions and when my side of the luck is in a very bad condition on certain days my parents get the idea of calling them over to our place saying the dialogue " Oh it has been quite sometime we met" so we also get to see each other at our houses .

this man isn't gonna let me live in peace I just want to strangle-

"Yes you may join us please have a seat beside Myra"

EXCUSE ME ? What do you mean beside myra there are literally three chairs here and out of all of them have a seat beside me ? Dear God why is my day like this what did I ever do

We had an eye contact while he was pulling the chair to sit it was more shooting draggers at each other through eyes. Dumb fricking ass

"So I would like to let you know something important thats coming up and whatever I am about to mention is a decision that was taken by the board meeting and I want you two to cooperate with me on it" she said look at us seriously

"You two have been the highest achieving students since day one of school no matter how playful or whatever distractions come up in middle" she says as she looks at adeen "you have always been maintaining a discipline regarding your studies"

Hmph I wonder where did that discipline disappear when it comes to socializing with people

"So there is this on going research program with the universities regarding certain subjects and right now we received an offer to select two outshining students of ours to participate in it and work along with the university students for next I think almost 2 months"

Wait what-

"This is a prestigious opportunity, we've chosen students with not only academic excellence but also passion for learning and leadership potential Also you don't have to worry much about the researching you are still high school children once you get assembled to your team which would include students of universities and other higher positions they would sort out and provide your part which has to be completed by you"

"And this wont be an easy task to be done by yourself therefore we have decided to take you two as a team" she dropped a the last one like it's nothing

"WHAT !!!" Adeen and Myra said in unison

Me and this guy a team ? Nice joke someone please let me know when to start laughing

"Maam but cant I choose my own partner or so-" a monkey called Adeen tried speaking but Mrs. Zehra cut him off

"Adeen I have already mentioned this a decision taken by the boards and not myself alone" she said strictly "but you both have the option to choose any topic out of the three options"

now that's a real disaster there are gonna be options but we got to agree to the same thing to start the work. This is going to be a war I can already feel it in my bones.

"So what do you say ?" She asked as if we had options

I was bit hesitant about this whole thing
"how long is the duration of this going to be for maam?" Adeen asked

"Almost 8 weeks.."

This gonna be a long long day.
