Anger wasn't something he usually resorted to
He's usually good at maintaining his emotions.
But what could he do about the rage and betrayal pooling in his gut as he sat there with shock lining his features?
Nedzu spoke up. "I am very sorry this had to be done Midoriya, but you know I take the safety of my students seriously." Not trusting his voice, he could only look down in his lap with anger and shame as he nodded. "You do understand this is protocol right?" He paused, a sad smile lining his face. "You have become a danger to this school and I'm afraid there's nothing we can do." Unable to meet the rat's eyes, he nods once more.
The door behind him opens and someone enters the office.
"Welcome Toshinori-san." the rat speaks up, causing Izuku to tense and his eyes to shut painfully, forcing back tears.
"Yes, hello Nedzu-sama." All might speaks, a coldness in his voice causing Izuku to suppress a flinch at the tone. They start speaking and he drowns out their conversation, thoughts spiraling as his eyes return back to the photo laid out on the desk in front of him once more.
'Of course.' He thinks bitterly. 'Of course they think I'm the traitor.' He swallows dry, his lips set in a thin line. 'Always jumping to conclusions. Never a chance to defend myself, huh?' He swallows back a bitter laugh, unshed tears threatening to leak from his overactive tear ducts. 'Just like middle school, huh. Always useless, worthless Deku, right?' His lips set into a deep frown. He knew it wouldn't last long, this happiness.
He knew what it was like to be looked down upon.
He knew what it was like to be pushed below everyone else.
He knew what it was like to get stepped on constantly.
He knew what it was like to be hurt so many times over.
He knew what it was like to constantly wish they would just kill him.
He knew what it was like to be lied to, beaten, and pushed around.
He knew what it was like to crack and break himself over and over again only to put himself back together with flimsy tape and glue.
So why would he wish that pain on anyone else?
'Who told the staff anyways? I didn't even talk to them for 5 minutes, I just wanted to get groceries-' His mind came to a halt, eyes suddenly widening, despair lining his features. 'Where is my mother? She must be so worried, I haven't been able to bring back the groceries yet, plus-'
He's suddenly ripped from his thoughts when the door promptly opens once more and two more people enter the room. Anger flashes across his face for a moment before its gone.
He'd read up on the laws. He knew since his mother was a lawyer that laws were important. He knew they were even more important when he was quirkless. He knew most quirkless laws were harsher than those for quirks. He knew he had less rights than others.
But he knew quirk or no quirk, he was still a minor. He knew that no matter the difference between the two, as a minor his mother or father were to be present. And yet-
And yet, half the time that part went under the bus when dealing with quirkless children. It's why many of them end up dead or in prison.
But he had a quirk, and they knew that. They knew he never developed one. They knew he was medically diagnosed quirkless. They knew he had no quirk factor, knew about One for All. And yet it was as if he was back to being that weak quirkless Deku he was in middle school. As if his progress and effort-
"Ectoplasm. Thank you for coming after receiving my email." He was suddenly ripped from his thoughts. "Would you please escort Midoriya to the dorms to collect his belongings before 1-A returns from classes?"
Izuku does not move and finally looks up, meeting Nedzu's eyes.
"Where is my mother?" He asks, trying his best to keep his anger underwraps and out of his voice.
"Ah there's no need to-" He starts, only for Izuku to cut the rat off.
"I already know this is going to turn into an interrogation." He pauses, his frown more visible. "According to article 3 of the Family Court Act, along with Article 7 of the Family Court Act and the Criminal Procedure Law, you must contact a minor's parent or guardian during a custodial interrogation."
Hesitance crosses Nedzu's features and he covers it up quickly, but not quick enough before Izuku had caught it. "Unfortunately-"
"-Unfortunately due to the circumstance at the moment, and the evidence that you've been seen with a member of the league of villains after you requested specifically to leave campus over the weekend in the guise of seeing your mother, leaves that section of the law null and void." Toshinori interrupted the rat.
Izuku's head snaps up, meeting his mentor's eyes for a moment before the feeling of ice washes down his spine at the look he gave him.
'That god damned League-!' Hopelessness coats his features, resignation showing up behind his eyes in tears. 'Those fucking- All I wanted was to see my mother after dorms were incorporated.' His last thought a whisper, and his anguish makes itself known, the room a few degrees colder. 'How come every time i want to take a fucking break something has to ruin it?'
He was tired.
It is not his fault he's the target of some century old wrinkly supervillain due to the giant weight dropped on his shoulders by his mentor!
All he wanted was a break away from his responsibilities, only for it to bite him in the ass once again.
Izuku could only look at Yagi in a mix of terror and misery for one moment before his mentor looked away and his eyes drifted and caught the tears and grief in the green eyes of the last person in the room.
The last thing he saw before the office door slammed shut was the man signing 'I'm so sorry listener.' He was promptly turned around and was off towards Heights Alliance.
He knows All Might isn't the brightest and knows how his head clouds whenever there's a threat.
He should be happy. They're only trying to protect the students.
He knew they were just doing their jobs.
But why did it hurt so much?
