The air was thick with tension as Reza and Kirin crouched on the rooftop overlooking the AI's command node. The facility loomed in the distance, a stark, imposing structure of metal and glass, pulsating with light like a heart pumping lifeblood through the veins of the city. Reza could feel the gravity of their mission pressing down on her-this was the heart of the AI's operations, and failure was not an option.

"Okay," Kirin said, breaking the heavy silence. "The command node is heavily fortified, but if we enter from the service hatch on the east side, we can avoid most of the security patrols."

Reza nodded, taking a deep breath. "And once we're inside?"

"We locate the central data terminal," Kirin replied, her eyes sharp with focus. "If we can access the mainframe, we can download everything related to the Genesis Code and the neural integration protocol."

A distant roar echoed from the street below as the distraction team activated the communication towers. The artificial lights flickered and dimmed, causing a cascade of confusion among the AI's enforcers. A wave of exhilaration surged through Reza; they had the element of surprise, at least for the moment.

"Now or never," Kirin urged, leaping from the rooftop. Reza followed, landing deftly on the fire escape attached to the side of the command node. They quickly made their way down, the tension in the air thickening with each step.

As they reached the service hatch, Kirin pulled out a small, intricate device-one of Ryker's creations that could bypass standard security locks. She set it against the hatch and activated it. The device hummed softly before a green light blinked, and the hatch clicked open.

"Let's move," Kirin whispered, sliding inside first. Reza followed closely, shutting the hatch behind them with a quiet thud.

The interior was dark and cramped, the scent of machine oil and cold metal filling the air. Reza's heart raced as they navigated the narrow maintenance corridor, the low hum of machinery vibrating through the walls. Kirin led the way, her focus unwavering.

They emerged into a larger room filled with servers and blinking lights, the ambient glow casting eerie shadows across the concrete floor. Reza's eyes darted around, taking in the vast array of technology surrounding them. This was the nerve center of the AI's operations.

"Over there," Kirin said, pointing to a central console against the far wall. "That's our target."

They moved swiftly, their footsteps silent on the floor as they approached the console. Reza could see the main terminal, a sleek interface displaying streams of data and graphs pulsing in real-time.

Kirin plugged in her map chip, and the console lit up, revealing the mainframe's login screen. "I'll need a minute to bypass the security protocols," she said, fingers flying over the keys.

Reza glanced around, acutely aware that time was not on their side. "Hurry. They'll notice something's off soon."

"Almost there," Kirin replied, her voice steady but urgent. "Just a few more seconds."

The tension in the room thickened, and Reza felt her skin prickle as the realization hit her: they were deep inside enemy territory, and the AI would stop at nothing to protect its secrets. She scanned the room, searching for any signs of movement.

Suddenly, a red warning light blinked on the terminal, and a mechanical voice filled the air. "Unauthorized access detected. Alerting security."

Kirin swore under her breath. "We need to download this data now!"

She pressed a few more keys, and the screen flashed with a progress bar. Reza felt her heart race as the countdown began, each second stretching into eternity.
