The night was cloaked in darkness, heavy with a tension that made the air crackle. Y/N lay in bed, her heart racing, thoughts racing even faster. The weight of her new reality bore down on her, and sleep eluded her, the memories of Taehyung filling her mind—his laughter, his warmth, his unwavering courage. She could still feel him in the very marrow of her being, a flickering flame of hope against the overwhelming darkness.
A sudden knock on the door jolted her from her reverie. Davin stepped inside, his expression cold and calculating. He leaned against the frame, arms crossed, a smirk playing on his lips. "Can't sleep, my dear?" he taunted, the cruel glint in his eyes sending shivers down her spine.
Y/N turned away, refusing to engage, but his presence was suffocating. "You know," he said, stepping closer, "I've been thinking about Taehyung. He was quite a nuisance, wasn't he? Always sticking his nose where it didn't belong."
Her heart dropped, anger flaring within her. "What do you mean?" she spat, trying to mask her fear with defiance. "He was never a nuisance. He was everything to me."
Davin's smile widened, but it didn't reach his eyes. "You really think he loved you?" he mocked. "He was a fool, Y/N. You were never meant to be with him. He was weak, and I took care of that."
Y/N's breath caught in her throat as the implication sank in, a cold wave of dread crashing over her. "What did you do?" she whispered, her voice trembling.
Davin took another step closer, enjoying her fear, the way it twisted her features. "You see, my dear," he said, his tone casual as if discussing the weather, "I couldn't let him ruin my plans. He had to be dealt with. You were meant to be mine from the start."
"No..." Y/N shook her head, denial clinging to her words. "You wouldn't..."
"Wouldn't I?" Davin replied, his voice dropping to a chilling whisper. "I made sure he would never come between us again. He won't be a bother to you, I promise."
A cold realization washed over her like ice water. The images of Taehyung—his laughter, his promise, his warmth—collided with the horrible truth that Davin had taken that all away. Rage ignited within her, fueled by grief and despair. "You killed him!" she screamed, her voice breaking.
"Ah, but you should thank me," Davin said, his voice mockingly smooth. "Now you can fully embrace your new life with me. No distractions, no remnants of your pathetic past. Just us."
Y/N felt sick, her heart pounding furiously in her chest. "You monster! You'll pay for this, I swear!" She could feel the walls closing in, the betrayal cutting deeper than any physical pain. She wanted to fight, to scream, to escape, but all she could do was stand there, frozen by the weight of his admission.
Davin stepped forward, leaning in closer, his breath hot against her skin. "You're not in a position to make threats, my love. I'm the one with power now. And trust me, I will do whatever it takes to keep you by my side."
With that, he turned on his heel and walked away, leaving Y/N trembling in the silence, her heart shattered. The finality of Taehyung's absence settled over her like a heavy fog, suffocating and relentless.
As the reality of Davin's words sank in, she dropped to her knees, tears streaming down her face. The love she had cherished was gone, and in its place, a gaping void that felt too vast to fill. She was left with only the memories of what had been, and the overwhelming promise of what would never come to pass.
"I'll find a way," she whispered through her tears, her voice hoarse with grief. "I will make him pay for what he's done... for you, Taehyung. I promise."
But in that moment, the crushing weight of despair loomed large, and she felt utterly alone in a world that had grown dark and cruel.
