Saubhagyaa Ganesan's POVAs I stepped into the office of GT, my heart raced with excitement. This was my first day as an intern, and I couldn't wait to dive into the world of digital media. But nothing could have prepared me for the moment I first laid eyes on him.
Shubman Gill-handsome, talented, and effortlessly charming. The moment he walked into the room, a hush fell over my colleagues, and I felt an inexplicable pull towards him. I remember whispering to my sister, Sanjana, "Woh kaun hai ?"
"Shubman, the rising star of the cricket world," she replied, barely containing her laughter at my wide-eyed expression.
Days turned into weeks, and I found myself looking forward to every interaction with him. I noticed the way he would smile at me during team meetings, how his eyes sparkled with mischief. Our conversations, although brief, felt electric, and my heart raced every time he walked past my desk.
One evening, after a particularly long day at work, I decided to stay back to finish some assignments. Just as I was about to leave, I heard his voice. "Saubhagyaa, working late?"
"Yeah, just trying to catch up," I replied, trying to sound nonchalant.
"Need any help?" He offered, a genuine smile lighting up his face.
I hesitated for a moment, feeling a flutter in my stomach. "Uh, sure! If you don't mind."
He sat down next to me, and we worked side by side, exchanging ideas and laughter. It felt so comfortable, so natural. I couldn't help but notice how close we were-his shoulder brushing against mine, the warmth radiating between us.
As days passed, my admiration turned into a crush. I found myself daydreaming about him, imagining us together. My sister teased me relentlessly, saying, "You've got it bad, haven't you?"
But there was a part of me that worried about the age gap. He was five years older, a celebrated cricketer, while I was just starting my career. I feared he wouldn't see me as anything more than a little sister.
One evening, as we were leaving the office, I noticed him deep in thought. "What's on your mind, Shubman?" I asked, curiosity piqued.
He looked at me, a mix of seriousness and vulnerability in his eyes. "Just...thinking about how to balance everything. You know, cricket, work, and life."
I nodded, understanding the pressure he must feel. "It's tough, but you're doing great. Just remember to take time for yourself, too."
He smiled, that beautiful, heart-stopping smile that made my knees weak. "Thanks, Saubhagyaa. You always know what to say."
That moment shifted something in me. I realized I didn't just have a crush; I was falling for him. Hard.
A few weeks later, it was my birthday. I didn't expect much; I planned to spend it working, as usual. But when I arrived at the office, the entire team surprised me with a small celebration. Shubman was there, his eyes sparkling with excitement.
"Happy Birthday, Saubhagyaa!" he said, pulling me into a warm embrace. My heart raced as I breathed in his familiar scent, feeling a rush of happiness.
"Thank you!" I beamed, feeling overwhelmed with joy. As everyone sang and celebrated, I caught Shubman watching me, a soft smile on his face.
Later that night, as I was about to leave, he pulled me aside. "Can we talk?"
"Sure!" I replied, trying to hide my nervousness.
He led me to a quiet corner, away from the crowd. "I wanted to tell you something," he said, taking a deep breath. "I've really enjoyed getting to know you. You have this incredible energy that brightens my day."
My heart fluttered. "Really? I feel the same way!"
He chuckled, scratching the back of his neck, looking adorably shy. "I know there's an age difference, but I can't help how I feel. I think I've fallen for you."
My breath hitched. "Shubman, I-"
He cut me off gently. "I'm not great at this, but here goes nothing. Are you a magician? Because every time I look at you, everyone else disappears."
My cheeks flushed as I giggled at his cheesy pickup line. "That's a new one!"
"Is it working?" he asked, a playful grin on his face.
"Definitely," I admitted, heart racing. "But I've fallen for you too."
A radiant smile broke across his face, and before I knew it, he leaned in and kissed me softly. It was sweet, gentle, and everything I had hoped for.
As we pulled away, I felt lightheaded, as if I was floating on air. "So, what now?" I asked, a smile creeping onto my face.
"Now, we take this one day at a time," he replied, his eyes filled with warmth. "And maybe I can take you out on a proper date."
"I'd love that," I said, beaming up at him.
As we walked out together, hand in hand, I knew this was just the beginning of our beautiful journey-filled with laughter, love, and maybe a few awkward moments as we navigated our age gap. But one thing was certain: I was ready for whatever came next.
