"how'd they end up together?
theyre literally quite the opposites
of eachother?""is this what they say...
opposites attract? sounds like a
fairy tale to me."she likes rain, I prefer sunny.
"which is ironic, because to me she's like a small flourishing sunny cloud in a dark stormy weather that rains deep floods to places. I am the storm."

beginning ;"YUUICHI–SAN, did you bring your umbrella?" yukiko kanzaki questioned me as she glimpsed at me whilst I gazed upon the once clear blue sky, turn dark blue in a moment of time. we were both standing right outside of our high-school's main buildings entrance.
"WHY WOULD WE NEED ONE? lets run together in the rain and hold hands, yukiko–san!" I answered. I turned to face her and grinned. she appeared to be startled by my response.
"yuuichi.. we both could catch a cold you know? we could catch a cold right before our midterms." yukiko spoke with an anxious expression on her face.
"yukiko–san, we both don't have an umbrella which means, it's the perfect opportunity to run in the rain! it's not like you're always going to be able to run in the rain..." I said. a part of me, truly wanted to stand beneath the rain, so I made an effort to convince her.
rain has been one of the most comforting things that were able to make me feel safe. and what's something you could possibly hate about rain? they're.. what I would like to say is god's gift to us.
"okay, fine you got me. let's go." yukiko said she finally gave in to my neediness. I jumped up and down with excitement. I grabbed her by the wrist and sprinted to the nearest train station. we screamed with laughter as every inch of our body and clothing was soaked in water. we didn't care about anything in the world, including what others thought of us. that is what makes rain so special—it brings out the best in everyone.
yukiko, who was formerly a shy girl who hesitated to speak to anyone, was now able to sprint across the street and scream with laughter. I grinned when I saw her; she looked happy with a wide smile on her face.
'I hope everyday is like this.' I thought in my head as we sprinted towards the train station, heading towards home.

"you're drenched from head to toe. oh dear, honey, get the towels quick! and a new pair of clothes for these two." my mother giggled at the sight of the both of us while yelling at my father. my father promptly followed my mother's orders and gave us four large towels and two pairs of pajamas.
"yukiko, won't your mother be mad at me if she finds out you were drenched from the rain?" my mother questioned while handing us towels.
"mama, don't worry! her mom's chill with it, I mean she wont even notice. her moms on a business trip in europe." I answered for yukiko. she nodded in agreement.
yukiko and I have been close friends since the day we were born. our mothers were close friends and former college roommates. I and yukiko have spent every day of our life together since we were both antisocial.
we would often go to arcades and challenge eachother after school. on somedays, I would win. on some other days, she would win. it was balanced, so we never argued about anything.
after changing into fresh clothing and drying ourselves, we settled into my bedroom and began reading magazines and selecting whatever we wanted, as if we could afford it. even though we were both wealthy, both of our families were strict with money.
we both were exhausted after chatting for plenty hours. we quickly fell asleep on the same bed, and our chat about midterms and boys we liked in our class came into an end. we didn't like anybody in our class though, despite being in class - A. the most prestigious class where only hardworking students can get into. we both agreed that maybe only gakushuu asano is the only attractive guy there, other than that, no one is goodlooking there.
we were both awoken up by my mother who was lightly tapping our shoulders. she told us breakfast is served and it was already 9:02 am. we were able to get back into our feet and made way to the dining room where breakfast was being served. we looked to see my mother was the only one there. yukiko sat beside me while I sat infront of my mother.
"good morning girls, it seemed like it rained pretty hard yesterday. I'm sure my strawberries from my garden is done planting." my mom informed us. yukiko and I exchanged excited glances, as we both adore strawberries. we both hummed in response to my mother.
yukiko soon had to return to her home, and I reacted with an unhappy face. we both waved goodbye at the gate of my home.
'alone.. yet again.' I sighed.

I was able to go back to my room and focus on something rather important, midterms. I wasn't sure on what to do about it though, I basically understood every material in every class. should I even be studying right now? I knew everything which would be basically a waste of time to study. I decided to just stay home and read more manga I had sitting on my shelves for a long time. the day soon started to set dark, and I had dinner with my mom as usual.
time skip to the day of my midterms. I was able to meet yukiko yet again, infront of the main campuses' entrance. "did you study?" I heard yukiko muttered to me. "no actually, I haven't. I understood everything anyway, would be a waste of time to even study." I answered her, while walking towards our classroom room 302. I asked her if she did study, to which I had a response of, "no I refuse to, I'm sort of rebelling from my father." she answered.
I giggled at that response. we both went ahead to our seats which was pretty far from eachother. she sat on the very front row, while I sat right at the very back of our classroom, right next to a window. the first bell rang, signifying that the midterms are about to begin. I was able to answer with ease, not having trouble with any question so far. I was the very first person to finish answering the test and handing the paper in.
after answering all the midterm papers, I met up with yukiko infront of our favourite cafe's entrance which had my favourite dessert which was the 'pan au chocolat'. they made the best pastry ever in tokyo. we both celebrated surviving the exams by ordering alot of dessert.
we both ordered two strawberry frappes and raised them and toasted to surviving the midterms! our glasses made a 'clink' sound and the cafe was filled with roars of our laughter.
