Ye Wudao felt his strength gradually ebbing away, his eyelids growing heavier, as a deep sense of despair welled up within him. His physical strength, inner energy, and vitality were all dissipating, and he could faintly sense the drain on his very life force. With each passing second, his consciousness became more muddled, until at last, he saw clearly that the massive, pale woman's body was composed entirely of faces— grotesque and agonized specters, their visages melding to form this colossal phantom.
Blurry-eyed, Ye Wudao felt as if his soul was being torn out, slowly leaving his body along the ghastly, pale arm. His strength, inner energy, and vitality were nearly siphoned away. In his gene-unlock state, his sense of impending danger had reached its peak, as if death was but a second away. Suddenly, with a loud pop, a torrent of heat surged from his mind, violently shattering the pale arm constricting his neck. This scorching energy was overtly aggressive, seemingly corrosive as it burned up the arm, and the specter clinging to Ye Wudao's back was silently consumed by the flames.
Not only did the heat incinerate the specter behind Ye Wudao, but it also wildly surged through his body, burning like boiling water, scorching every part it touched. The intense agony was no less than the pain following the unlocking of his genes. Instinctively, Ye Wudao blocked out the pain, but he couldn't help but roar loudly.
Vampiric energy! Unlike the previous horror movie where he relied on instinct, this time, the vampiric energy was truly unleashed. It now enveloped his entire body. Ye Wudao's eyes turned a deep red, and to him, the world seemed to be painted in red, as if blood-soaked. The massive phantom before him appeared in a light blue hue, composed of countless twisted human limbs entwined together.
The colossal specter was entirely made up of innumerable specters, and Ye Wudao recognized a few familiar faces, such as the Northeastern brawny man who had appeared at the beginning of this horror movie, and even Xiao Bingyi was among them. In other words, anyone killed by Ju-on would become a part of it, their resentment absorbed to form a collective Ju-on entity. Through these specters, Ye Wudao saw a ferocious woman at the center of the phantom, a miniature version of the entire massive specter—that was the Ju-on's central entity, Kayako!
At this moment, Ye Wudao was utterly weak, barely managing to roll away to a distance of over ten meters behind him before regaining some strength to pick up the communicator.
"Zero, can you see near the ghost's chest? The Ju-on's core is in that area... Zero?" Ye Wudao murmured weakly.
"...Zero was attacked by the ghost from behind. I only managed to save him in time, but he doesn't have the strength to snipe anymore... You'll have to wait about ten minutes for him to recover to a sniping condition." Zhao Yingkong's voice came through the communicator instead.
Ye Wudao was silent. He and Zero had dealt the most damage to the ghost just now, and as expected, they were targeted. They were truly in a desperate situation. Watching the ghost gradually recover, he couldn't find a way to defeat it for the time being... Could it be that everyone would have to die here? In the dozens of minutes before returning to the "Main God" space, would they all die together?
(No, I don't want to die, I must survive!)
"Zhao Yingkong, protect Zero well, I'm counting on you over there. I'll hold off this ghost for ten minutes... My life is in your hands now!"
Ye Wudao struggled to his feet, his physical strength and inner power nearly drained from the spectral assault. The vampiric energy, while offensively potent, did little to replenish his stamina; it enhanced vitality but not physical vigor. Staggering, he made his way to where his submachine gun had fallen. As he retrieved it, the massive phantom's upper body had already mended, and its legs were nearly restored.
