Determined to uncover the hidden room, Ava shared her plans with Ethan and Lila, who both expressed their excitement. “Let’s explore after school tomorrow,” Ethan suggested, his eyes gleaming with adventure.

The next day, after the final bell rang, the trio gathered outside the main building, their hearts pounding with anticipation. They ventured through the halls, following Sophie’s vague directions, until they reached a secluded staircase that spiraled down into the depths of the school. The air grew colder as they descended, a shiver of excitement running down Ava’s spine.

At the bottom, they found a heavy wooden door, covered in dust and cobwebs. With a deep breath, Ava pushed it open, and they stepped inside. The room was dark and musty, filled with artifacts draped in sheets, their shapes creating a ghostly silhouette in the dim light.

As they moved deeper into the room, Ava’s eyes were drawn to a wall covered in old photographs. Her heart raced as she recognized familiar faces—students from the past who looked strikingly like her and her friends. Each photograph had a name written below it, some crossed out in red ink.

“What is this place?” Lila whispered, fear creeping into her voice. “This is… unsettling.”

Ava reached for one of the photographs, her fingers trembling as she traced the name below. It was a girl who bore an uncanny resemblance to her—a girl who had gone missing years ago. “This can’t be real. Why do they look like us?”

“Maybe it’s a coincidence,” Ethan suggested, his voice shaking slightly. “But we should get out of here. This feels wrong.”

As they turned to leave, Ava noticed a dusty book resting on a nearby pedestal. Curiosity tugged at her, and she approached it, opening the cover to reveal a detailed account of Veil High’s history, its founding, and the tragedies that had unfolded. But as she read, a chill washed over her; the events mirrored the stories from her nightmares. Dark figures, whispers in the night, students drawn into a web of secrets.

“Guys, we need to go,” Ava said, closing the book with a snap. “We shouldn’t be here.”

They hurried back up the staircase, the weight of the hidden room lingering in their minds. Outside, the sun was setting, casting long shadows across the courtyard. Ava felt the tension in the air, the remnants of something ancient and powerful swirling around them.
