Pandit ji announced for the groom to come. But the groom was not here yet. Everyone was gossiping about the situation. I walked faster, holding my lehenga in my both hands. I was about to knock on the door but the next words i heard from inside, made me freeze then and there.
"Raunak ran away from the wedding" His grandfather said in a sad and disappointed tone.
The words shook me to the core, i came here to talk to them about cancelling the wedding but i don't want it to happen this way. This will ruin their and my family's reputation in the society. I opened the door with a jerk. They all looked at me, shocked. I took slow steps towards his grandfather,
"Ye..ye kya keh rhe hai aap" I asked to his grandfather, my voice shaky and low. I wanted to cancel the alliance but this way it will create a blunder.
Everything went numb. My eyes become teary,
"How could he do this to me? If he didn't wanted to marry then why did he agreed at first? What about my family?" I said my voice heavy,
"If he didn't wanted to marry me then why did he and you all agreed?" He didn't said anything. I sat on the couch tensed, i cluchted my head. I controlled my sobs not wanted to burst out here and now. Shreya was trying to console me.
"What will we do now Jaivardhan Ji, it's about our respect in the society?" Papa shouted on him.
"It's not only about your respect Mehra Ji, its about our respect too. Right now we have only one way, we should talk about it calmly."
His grandmother said in a loud and stern tone. I looked at her, she looked at me and then at my father. They shared glances at each other and then went towards another room.
"Shreya take akshara to her room" My mother said to shreya and went with them. Me and Shreya came back to my room.
I sat on the bed tensed. Shreya sat beside me.
"Di don't worry everything will be fine" She said holding my hand, i nodded.
After sometime, my maa-papa came, i stood up and went towards them.
