"Can't believe I dropped all my stuff today in class. Thanks for helping me pick it up, Saiki!"
Saiki nodded.
"Say, Saiki," Yuna began, her gold eyes pleadingly looking from her navy bangs. "Wanna eat lunch together today?"
Saiki's apathetic expression remained unchanged as he looked over.
"I'm busy."
Yuna observed the expression on Saiki's face. Behind his pink bangs, Saiki's purple eyes stared at her blankly from behind his lime green sunglasses. He looked like he was ready to leave at any moment.
The edges of Yuna's smile twitched.
This annoying guy...
"It's okay! Maybe next time," Yuna affirmed, forcing a smile and tilting her navy hair slightly.
Saiki, emotionless as ever, nodded and began to walk away from Yuna.
As Saiki was about to leave, the sound of incoming footsteps stampeding echoed through the sound of the hallway. Yuna froze. She knew the sound of those intrusive footsteps all too well.
A loud voice from across the hallway yelled, "Saiki, check out this book from Dark Reunion!!"
Yuna swung her body around in panic.
Saiki's somewhat friend, Shun Kaido, dashed down the hall flaunting a leather book with demonic script written in the front. His white spiky hair and red bandages around his hands bounced up and down as he stomped his way down the hall. His dark eyes shone with excitement to pester his friend about his new discovery.
Yuna saw the edges of Saiki's frown deepen. Anyone could tell Kaido was the last person he wanted to see.
A lightbulb appeared above Yuna's head. Wait, this is my chance to help Saiki out. Yuna shut her eyes and pressed her hands together.
Apologies for doing this again, Kaido!
Yuna stuck out her right leg in the middle of the hallway.
"Not this again - !" Kaido yelped.
Kaido tripped over Yuna's leg, stumbling over and rolling down the hall until he crashed into the lockers. Yuna cringed as his legs hung over him and the book dropped onto his head. Yikes. She may have gone overboard.
Saiki sighed. Seeing his opportunity, he left the chaotic scene.
A little messy, but at least we helped Saiki avoid another annoying encounter. Yuna cheered internally.
Yuna watched until Saiki walked away from the scene, then rushed over to assist a semi-conscious Kaido.
She picked up the book that landed on his head. Her dark navy bangs framed her concerned golden eyes as her delicate hand reached out to help him up.
"You good?" Yuna asked.
"'You good' my butt! You've tripped me 12 times this week!"
"12? I thought it was only 9."
"That's still just as bad!"
"Don't sweat it. Here, your book back," Yuna extended the book to Kaido.
Kaido got up and crossed his arms. "Don't want it. That cursed book is yours now."
"No way, take it back!"
"I won't protect you with my powers!" Kaido yelled as he dashed away.
Yuna stood stunned in the hallway in shock.
She stared down at her brand new demonic book.
What am I going to do with this?
