"We will be in momentarily to give your flu shot to you." The nurse said before she closed the door behind her.
You bounced your knee nervously and chewed at your lip as Jurin got up from her chair across the room.
You've been dreading this day and she knows it.
Your fear of needles is intense so it's always a dreadful day when it comes to getting your flu shot each year.
"Baby," She softly spoke as she stood beside the chair you were sitting on. "It's going to be okay."
"It doesn't feel like it. Jurin, you know how much I hate needles. I'm really on edge about it." You said as you looked into her worried brown eyes.
She kissed your forehead softly and then began to rub your back comfortingly.
"I know you hate needles but it's going to be so quick and then it's done. Also, I'm here with you and I'll help you through it. It'll be okay."
Before you could say another word there were a couple of taps on the door before it opened and the nurse stepped in.
She had a needle in her hand as well as a wipe to run along the spot on your arm where the flu shot would go in, along with a bandage.
"Ready for your flu shot?"
"No." You anxiously confessed and began to bounce your knee again.
Jurin gently placed her hand over your knee in hopes that her touch would soothe you and you'd calm down a little.
You stopped bouncing it and reached for her hand instead, which she happily intertwined with yours.
"She's very scared of needles," Jurin told the nurse.
"That's not uncommon but I promise you that it's very quick and easy. You'll barely feel a thing." The nurse assured.
You let out a shaky breath as she ran the wipe across your arm and you clutched Jurin's hand a little tighter.
"It's okay, baby. I'm here, I've got you." She comforted.
You squeezed your eyes shut and bit your lip hard as the anxiety became more intense and more inescapable than ever.
"Ready?"
You shook your head and Jurin brought your hand to her lips for a soft kiss.
"Come on, look at me."
You opened your eyes and she used her free hand to hook her fingers under your chin and make you look at her so you wouldn't catch even a single glimpse of the needle.
Your breathing was quick and uneven and Jurin did her very best to comfort you through it.
"I'm right here. Take a breath and focus on me. It's going to be over before you know it, I promise you."
You felt the needle go in your arm and you winced only to take a deep breath as Jurin kept her eyes on yours.
"Almost done." She whispered. "You're doing so good."
You felt the needle be pulled out of your arm and the nurse placed a bandage over the spot before Jurin sent you a soft, encouraging smile.
"Good job, darling! You did it, it's done."
You let out a breath of relief and the nurse walked to the other side of the room to dispose of the used needle.
"Great job!"
You got up and Jurin wrapped your jacket over your shoulders.
"How about we go get some lunch?"
"I'd love that."
She kissed your lips softly and pulled you into her arms.
"I'm very proud of you. You did so great!"
"Thank you. I'm so glad that's done ith."
"Yeah... until it's time for your next vaccination. When are you due for your covid shot, by the way?" She teasingly reminded you.
You groaned and she let out a chuckle before giving you a gentle squeeze.
"Don't worry, baby. I'll be right here with you when you get it, I promise,"
