Dizzyness took over my head, my shaking hands slowly dropping to my sides while I balled up a necklace in my fist. Staring at the shell-shocked corpse of the Hollowghast in front of me I was practically choking on the pure amount of holy mana that flooded into my body from the jewel in my hand.

Closing my eyes, I stumbled to the kitchen, looking anxiously around the cupboards. So far, Suzume has yet to realize my night trips out. As much as I hated the idea of a bunkie at the beginning of our time together, she has sort of grown on me—that thought horrified me.

I was a Nightshade, those words should never be a part of my thoughts.

Reaching for the cabinet I noticed some movement at the doorway snapping my head around to stare at three men reaching for their swords and waiting for my attention anxiously.

Staring at the guys in the doorway, I was shocked. I knew who they were; I recognized their faces from around the night castle several times. I never thought I would be in front of them, staring them all in the eyes. Then again, there was quite a lot I thought I would never be doing and yet was stuck doing: wandering, alone, in nightshade, holding bloodied blades, casting out demons.

Brandon of Divinus Magia, Micheal & Viper of Grimshade– friends of the King.

The King—that man was terrifying. I never knew why water magic was viewed as terrifying until I met him—until that showcase of his power. The only reason I was dragged onto the team was because they were one man down—simply because of what the king had done to one of the nightshade pedals when they slipped up on their mission.

Made sense that his codename was Riptide, especially with magic like that.

The short man shifted forward, his black hair falling around his face to block his eyes– just barely, "Hey, we don't want to hurt you, trust me and put down the weapon, will you?"

Tilting my head, I glanced around at their faces. The entire group of them had yet to draw their blades, staring and waiting with hands at the hilts and handles of their swords, spears, and other weapons.

Gently and slowly, I placed my blade back at my side, "What are you doing here? Riptide has yet to inform me of a change of plans."

"Who is Riptide?" Asked the man beside him, this one I knew the name of, Brandon. Hurricane was his code name amongst the Nightshade. Though I doubt he knew that himself, he wasn't one of the Nightshade members from what I was aware of.

"Well, that says something," I whispered, glaring at them. They didn't know anything about the mission if they didn't know his code name, Riptide, the grand King Icarus. Or as Moi-moi nicknamed him, Scarface.

"Who's Riptide, is it the guy you work for?" The black-haired man repeated the question.

I shook my head, "doesn't matter to the likes of you Rienas."

Nothing matters to people outside of the nightshade, and the nightshade are ment to not care about anyone around them as well. So these guild members were useless to us, so I demanded loudly, "Leave this place now."

Brandon stepped forward, a defensive look in his eyes, "I am not leaving until I know for sure that my daughter isn't hidden in this mansion, and that is my final stand." this old man didn't know when to stop, did he?

Shaking my head again, I raised my hand. The guild logo on my hand– burned into my very existence. "Do you know what this is? What does it represent to people such as myself?"

"Yes, it's the emblem of the Ethlusi Family and the guild EVIL." The black-haired man answered quietly, "We don't need you to do anything other than show us how to get into the dungeons."

I couldn't help but think about how absolutely reckless these men were being. Wandering into a traitor's mansion, speaking to someone they don't even know about their plan, leaving their bodies wide open to attack, and attempting to convince a stranger to let them walk into a death pit for someone without a holy ability.

Muttering softly, I closed my eyes and pinched the bridge of my nose, "Idiots."
