1. Heirlooms

A gold ring which was passed down turned out to be not so ordinary. In the morning, I awoke, to a bright light, to find the ring spinning within the middle of the dormitory. Inside was an engraved message. I wasn't sure how it moved from my hand to the ground but I was going to figure it out.

I dump out my pillow from its protective case. Then, using the case as a glove, I slam the ring so it stopped spinning and picked it up. I was the only one remaining in the dormitory so thankfully it didn't disturb anyone. That wasn't the issue. The issue was that a family heirloom wasn't what it seemed to be.

All I could say was. "Huh."

The golden light was no longer visible. The engraved message was gone too. All of this was rather stranger, no one was going to believe me without proof. I didn't have anything to prove this actually happened as I didn't care for muggle objects. All I had to do was solve this mysterious puzzle without drawing any attention to myself, which was going to be extremely difficult.

I hid the ring in my pocket by folding the pillow case into a small square, and tying it with a hair bobble

I hid the ring in my pocket by folding the pillow case into a small square, and tying it with a hair bobble. It was enough for now.

I pray that it doesn't go anywhere, remaining still while I solve its puzzle.

Everyone was down in the Great Hall for breakfast which I nearly missed. Luckily, mystery magic, was like my personal alarm clock so I was too down about it. My friends are in the middle of the table like always as that was our designated place. I rub my eyes clearly more tired than normal.

"Hey Weaslette!" Shouts Malfoy. "Had a shower today?."

I turn around and give him the middle finger using both hands and take my seat. Recently, Malfoy was more talkative towards me since we've been competing in who is more sassier than who. I'm guessing that none of my other siblings was paying much attention to him, because it was old news at this point.

"I don't know why you give him the time," comments Hermione, completing summer homework.

I've always lover Hermione and look forward to hanging out with herself and my sister every summer. As it seemed official she was bound to marry one of our brothers.

"He's bored, I'm bored," I explain. "He can be quite funny at times."

"Seriously Adora? You're actually complimenting him?" Asks Ginny, my younger sister. "He's awful and his dad is what got me cursed, remember!"

I shudder, remembering Pettigrew living rent free in our home for years. "We've all gotten annoyed so why not make some fun of it."

"Complimenting Malfoy? Who?" Says Ron, with a mouthful of chewed up sausage. "Don't tell me it was Adora."

Harry chimes in without being asked to. "Not this again!"

"No one asked you scarface," I argued, being the only one who didn't like him. "I wasn't complimenting him anyway."
