At school, Astrid’s social life is nearly nonexistent. She’s the invisible girl in the halls, her only company being her younger sister. Known for her aloofness and sharp tongue, her peers see her as toxic and exhausting, unaware of the weight she carries or the struggles she endures. As the target of blame within her family, Astrid feels perpetually misunderstood, forced to carry burdens that no one acknowledges.
When Astrid crosses paths with Steve Harrington, Hawkins High’s golden boy, there’s an unexpected spark between them. Steve is instantly intrigued by Astrid’s tough, closed-off demeanor, so different from the people he usually surrounds himself with. Beneath her icy exterior, he sees glimpses of vulnerability and strength that draw him in. Over time, Astrid realizes that Steve might be one of the few people willing to see past her defenses.
Their dynamic is a push and pull of tension and unexpected connection, with Steve gently encouraging Astrid to let down her walls, while she challenges him to confront his own insecurities and the shallow facade he hides behind. Through each other, they both find the courage to face their fears and, perhaps, redefine who they are beyond the roles they've been assigned.
