IT WAS THE FIRST properly warm day of the year, and as the sun beat down on the grounds of hogwarts, the slytherin common room felt stifling. you, mattheo, and theo had been lounging by the window, absentmindedly going over potions notes, but no one was actually paying attention. that was, until mattheo threw his parchment aside and let out a loud, dramatic sigh.
"this is unbearable. we should be outside." he groaned, fanning himself theatrically. theo raised an eyebrow, smirking. "pretty sure even the heat won't save you from failing potions, riddle."
you laughed, closing your book with a snap. "alright, you two, i agree with mattheo. it's too nice out. let's go to the lake."
theo looked a bit surprised, though a smile crept onto his face. "you mean, like, swim?"
"unless you're scared of a little water, nott?" mattheo taunted, already getting up, his face lighting up with excitement.
"oh, please." theo rolled his eyes, getting to his feet. "i'll go grab towels and my swimsuit. meet you both outside?"
you grinned as they both set off to get ready, anticipation buzzing in the air. you pulled out your new swimsuit, a dark emerald-green bikini that you knew was going to get some looks. it wasn't every day you saw hogwarts students hitting the lake in beach attire, after all.
you walked out to the edge of the lake, where theo and mattheo were already waiting. both of them had tossed their shirts on the grass, lounging in their swim trunks, mattheo's grin widening as he caught sight of you. his eyes took in your outfit, lingering a bit too long before he cleared his throat, managing a lazy smile.
"well, you weren't kidding about being ready for a swim." he quipped, his eyes twinkling with a mix of admiration and something you couldn't quite place.
theo, on the other hand, tried his best to maintain his usual nonchalant demeanor, but you caught his gaze flickering toward you, a faint blush dusting his cheeks as he looked away quickly. "right, uh, yeah. you look... uh, ready."
you laughed, tossing a bit of water at both of them as you stepped closer. "is that the best you two can do? it's like you've never seen a swimsuit before."
mattheo smirked. "trust me, we have. just not on you."
theo shot him a look, but you caught the way his lips curved into a small, appreciative smile. "alright, let's go. last one in has to buy butterbeer after dinner." theo declared, taking advantage of the moment to dive into the water before either you or mattheo could react.
you and mattheo exchanged a glance before racing after theo, diving into the cool, refreshing water. the chill against your skin was blissful in the afternoon heat, and you surfaced with a grin, splashing water directly at theo, who was already laughing.
"oh, it's on now." he muttered, splashing you right back. mattheo joined in, scooping handfuls of water and sending waves at both you and theo, grinning wickedly as he managed to dodge your attempts to retaliate.
