5 years.  It's been 5 years since Eda called her.

Lilith sat in her office staring at her phone, shocked to see her sister's caller ID on the screen with that picture of her she'd kept from high school as the profile picture.

Lilith quickly picked up her phone to answer the call the very first words already made her heart pound

"Hey Lily, I really need your help"

Lilith rolled her eyes.

"What did you do?.. You didn't get arrested right?"

"What no! Christ on a stick, Lilith," Eda replied over the line.

She scoffed. "Watch your mouth"

"Anyways, I kinda have a baby, and I have no idea how to cook to feed her"

Lilith was shocked, nearly dropping her phone because of it.

"you had a baby?!" Lilith asked frantically.

"I guess?.. But anyways, I can't cook and I'm not sure if she can eat burnt toast... "

"You're back home! That's like a 4-hour drive on its own; how do you expect me to get there?"

Eda scoffed. "Oh no, I live in New York, but I know you took that job in Canada, so, like,e, is there a recipe I can use or something?"

Lilith sat there confused because she, too was in New York. "What? No. I took the job in New York City; you thought I was in Canada this whole time?"

Both women sat there silent before letting out a mutual groan.

"Send me your address, il be there soon"

"Kay.. Thanks," Eda muttered before hanging up the phone.

She looked down at the little girl, noticing her red hair was tangled.

"How long have you been neglected?" Eda muttered to herself before taking the girl into her bathroom to brush her hair.

The little girl watched Eda through the mirror, nervous to be touched. Tracing every movement she made.

Her maple brown eyes, as doughy as they were, watched everything.

Every tug the little girl felt, was followed by a small apology from Eda. Carefully building the brush through her hair.

"You don't talk much do you?" Eda asked with a playful smile.    There was no reply.

"It's alright to be shy, but it would help to at least know your name," Eda said as she put the hairbrush down.

Just a couple of blinks, and a stare in return.

Eda guess yes and no questions would be best.

"Uhm, can you spell?" She asked, a head shake followed by the little girl.

"Do you know your name?" Eda hoped for a nod, but the girl just stared at her, leading her to wonder.

"Do you have a name?" She asked, hoping the answer to be a no.

The girl just stared once again, then her pink backpack that Eda had sitting on the floor.

Eda turned her head, before remembering the price of paper she found last night might have her name on it.

"Wait here," Eda said, as she left the girl sitting on the bathroom counter.

Eda looked in the bottom pocket, where she put the price of paper, opening it to see that it was a note or rather a letter from whoever had the little girl before.
