━━THE SECOND ROUND of the nba draft is almost reaching its conclusion, y/n was sitting in the living room as his mother watched beside him, he was sweating, he knew that it was a bad idea to declare for the draft since he just got out of high school. 

"y/n, drafted or not, just remember that i'm here to support you all throughout." y/n's mother assured as a way to calm y/n's nerves.

"that calmed me down a bit, thank you, eomma." y/n smiled nervously as the 51st pick was called, he was now waiting for the 52nd.

"and with the 52nd pick, the golden state warriors select..." as mark tatum said those words, y/n's heart started to beat up fast. he was from the bay area, the home of the said organization, he supported the warriors ever since he was a young child, to be able to represent the warriors would be a dream come true for him.

"...park y/n from lowell high school san francisco, california, congratulations." y/n couldn't believe it, his eyes widened as he heard his name, and his mother screamed in glee as the words came out from the deputy commissioner.

"i can't believe it... w-what?" y/n was in disbelief as he sat still, he could hear his heart thumping as well as the notifications coming from his phone.

"y/n this could be for you." y/n's mother gave him his phone, it was the warriors' front office.

"yes, h-hello?" y/n stuttered slightly as he answered the phone.

"ah hello there, i'm mike dunleavy, gm of the warriors, i just want to congratulate you for being drafted! we at the warriors are ecstatic to have you." dunleavy stated as he congratulated the young warrior.

"it's an honor to be drafted by the warriors, gm sir dunleavy sir." dunleavy chuckled as y/n used honorifics towards him.

"no-no, it's an honor to have you at this organization, y/n. you see, i have talked to other gms and they told me that i was crazy that i would pick a kid that just came out of high school that isn't that well known. but the truth is, we have scouts across the bay area and they saw your potential from the start, i don't know if you've noticed, but i was watching a game where you dropped a 24-point triple-double, and please, drop the honorifics, mike is fine." dunleavy explained.

"alright, si- mike, thank you so much." y/n thanked the gm.

"no problem, welcome to the warriors, y/n." dunleavy replied as he ended the call.

"i'm a warrior... i'm a warrior!" y/n shouted as he hugged his mother, tears of joy pouring from his eyes as finally, his dreams come true.

"now we need to celebrate." his mother stated, making y/n smile, he was happy that he had a supportive mother who had supported him ever since he was born.

━━Y/N WAS FRUSTRATED, he was at the training facility getting up shots and none of them seemed to go in the basket. ever since he watched sports analysts criticize him on social media, his emotions began to take the best of him as he trained harder and harder.

"lemme guess, espn called you an 'unnecessary draft pick' huh?" y/n looked towards the direction of the voice and saw the face of the warriors franchise, stephen curry.

"how'd you know?" y/n grabbed the rebound from his missed shot and looked at steph.

"because you're proving to them that you're an unnecessary pick. pass me the ball." y/n sighed as he passed the ball to the 4-time champion.
