(This story is started when theyre still 15 and junior highschool grade to match the slow burn theme 🩷)

The moon shone its silvery light, rhytmic with hoots of owls and freezing hush. A few strikes seep through the glass panes, lines of blue in the dim lit hall. Layers of shadow cover grey bricks and cracks, with shut wooden doors beside.

Abyss gazes out the window, his palms sink between dusts of window frame, each particle slip between folds of fingerprints. Stars hide under clouds, some bigger than others. He sighs heavily, a bitter smile curve the ends of his lips.
Its so pretty outside...

Wind blew once more, his ponytail twirl like ribbons as footsteps echo through the halls. He steps back, a palm on his sword. Eyes roaming cautiously as it beats faster than his speeding heart.

"Welcome!" A voice greets coldly. Abyss turns, facing Abel, his purple eyes pierce through the layers of shades. His purple tipped coat flow serenely, with his neck length hair and white bowtie.

Abyss pauses blankly. "G-greetings, Lord Abel!" He stammered, bowing nervously.

"Follow me!" Abel demands, turning back to walk down the hall.

That fast? Abyss quickly fix his mask, gripping his cloak tighter as he hurry after.

Abel stops, shooting a glare at Abyss, as if telling him to be quiet. Abyss combs his ponytail, coldness bit every pore as his mind race once more. Did I do something wrong?

"For your first task" Abel says firmly, pointing to a shadowy figure. "Kill that thing over there!"
Abyss fixes his hood, straightening its folded top. His heart thuds louder, too loud for him to notice.

"Uhh, okay?" Abyss grips his sword tighter, his eyes peek through behind the wall.

A young boy stands calmly. His elbows rest atop the window frame, with lingering gaze and dust tipped fingers, as if he was waiting for someone.

Abyss sneaks closer, his sharp brown shoes tip tap. The sword's cold steel bit one last time as the boy sighs emptily, looking down below the hurrendous forest.

Abyss holds his breath, lifting his sword high, his gaze shook as a hush blows a blinding mist, whipping everything in white.

He blinks, once, twice.

Streeekkk!!!

A knife slice through his arm, ripping his long sleve into a clean straight line. He gasps, blood trickle scentlessly.

Another strike tore his leg, sharp line across his ankle.

Abyss swings his sword wildly, again, again, and again.

Stab...

A long, gold sword plung through his left arm, red flowing down like veins. His knuckles fold pale, whiter than his blood gone face. Do Something!!

STAB!!

Abyss thrust his steel. The shadow squeals a sickening horror, stumbling back.

The mist blows once more, covering every inch in white, But he knew.

STAB!

It fell down, Abyss pulls his steel up. His ginger hair spread like crow feathers, with vibrant splashes of red and deer-like eyes, shocked and humbled.
"You cant kill me!" It growls, raising his palm for another spell. Abyss leans closer, his eyes blank, straight onto his prey.

Its froze, no magic twirl around nor spark as its face turn ghostly pale.

STAB!!

Abyss strikes one last time. A scream thunder, before fountains of red pool around.

"You... " It whispered, pointing weakly, ruby blood on its lips. "Devil's eye... "

Abyss blinks, he raises his palm and brushes his mask as it scoffs the final breath, leaving him alone again in the cold dark hall.

He looks down, blood still dripping out of his wound. The owls hoot faraway, crickets sing their night symphony. Wind whisper between gaps of windows, twirling his ponytail into a gracefull loop. What... Happened???...

"Move!" Abel's voice pierce sharply, staggering Abyss's empty head. He steps in, dragging a soggy mop along a crinkling plastic bag.
Abyss steps back, biting his lips. What Have I done???...

"Hold!" Abel shoves a plastic bag onto his palms as he lifts the corpse, blood still trickling. He pulls it close, palm digging under its reddish cloak.

Abyss stares nervously, opening the plastic wide. His fingers twitch between folds as Abel pulls out a gold coin.

"Catch!" Abel throws. Abyss stumble, swiftly catching it. His blood trailed fingers brush its gold charm, admiring the lines and bumps before his gaze drift again to Abel's back.

He swallows heavily, as Abel forcefully press down its dead body into the thin plastic bag. Its arm fold, along with legs and neck. Abyss ties it tight, putting it aside.

The mop slush around, its grey rags turn red as the blood pool shrink. Abyss watches cautiously, his heart speeding. Abel mop one zig zag line, his face calm.

Abel turns back, shooting another glare "Stand in front!" He points.

Abyss raises his eyebrow. Huh??

"Uhhh. Okay?" Abyss walks by, standing in front Abel as he continued to mop. Abyss fixes his mask, eyes still on Abel.

"What are you looking at?" Abel rolls his eyes, giving Abyss a bombastic glance.
"S-sorry!" Abyss stutters, scrunching his dirty sleeves.

The floor was finally clean, smooth from blood and dust. Abel lifts the mop up, along with his very-not-suspicious-looking plastic bag.

"You're done!" He informs flatly, zero hints of satisfaction nor dissapointment.

"Ehh??" Abyss blinks."G-Good Night, Lord Abel!" He bows deeply, offering the Golden coin back.

The clouds flew by, with feather shaped puffs like gracefull swans. They return to their dorms quietly, one sleeping right away and the other somewhere else. The owls hoot once more, an ending to their moonlit orchestra. A star fall, trailing golden sparks across clouds and moon.
