"Are you sure this is what you want to do?"

I stood just outside the loading dock for the 5 o'clock morning flight to London. All around me, plain looking business people hurried onto their soon departing flights, leaving behind nothing but the echos of clattering high heels and suitcase wheels on the cold, hard linoleum.

"Yes, I'm sure." I smiled giving my mother a comforting hug. "You know I've wanted to do this for years!" I pulled away from my mother and took my guitar and luggage from her. Five years to be exact. Had it really been that long?

"Well then," my mother coughed, trying to conceal her rising emotions. "If you are sure this is what you want to do then I support your decision. I can't say I like the idea of my eighteen-year-old daughter being thousands of miles away from me in another country, but I support you." I laughed as my mother gave me a soft, gentle kiss on the forehead.

"I love you. Be safe." My mother whispered as she pulled her lips from my forehead. I smiled and nodded. "I will. I promise." And with that I boarded onto the flight, ignorant of all that would happen  to me during my time spent in England.
