When I was 15, I loved to explore every peak and corner of where I could go. I remembered what happened as if it were yesterday. There was an abandoned apartment near our our's, only halfway through its building. My sister once told me to never go inside it. I thought it was because it's dark and scary there, even if it's daytime. I never knew why, until this happened -

"She's doing homework." I whispered to myself, "Perfect time to escape, its still daytime afterall, no monster could kill me."

I acted like nothing is going on and im just going outside, I tried at least. I press the button on the lift and waited for it to arrive.

And after a while, I finally stepped foot outside the apartment without any of my family members noticing. The very sandy sand and rocks crumbled under my feet. Our apartment was basically in the middle of nowhere, just sand and trees around us, even the nearest grocery was a ten minute walk away.

I started to walk to the abandoned building. A strong wind blew along with the sand, and I almost flew with it.

I entered the building and found that it was looking normal at first. But after a bit of rummaging, I found a shelf attached to a wall. I walked closer to it and found a book, a pen, and finally a metal pyramid-shaped object. I flipped through the book to find nothing except the words "THE END" written on the final page. Smooth and polished metal covered the entire pyramid-shaped object, the corners werent sharp and instead was smooth, and with tiny dents on it, it looked like it was nice to hold. I reached my hand towars the shiny metal object and touched it.

Suddenly, the object started to vibrate and hovered out of the shelf towards a large and flat area. Then, the object split into four identical pieces and a beam of light connected it all, opening a portal right in front of me. I couldnt even react to what had just happened before a strange purple aura pulled me into the portal. And this is the part where things start to change.

I was welcomed by a blast of darkness accompanied by little specs of light here and there. When my eyes adjusted with the darkness, I found out that I was in some kind of massive cave, there was no sky. I saw walls made from stone bricks and torches made from stone and wood. The portal shrank back into the small palm-sized metal pyramid, I took it with me.

After some wandering, I found that I was starting to feel hungry, I also found out that everything looked the same wherever I looked, as it is a cave afterall. After another even longer time wandering, I found hope after seeing someone in the distance, someone old, or I think I did.

"Is anyone there?" I questioned, hoping for a reply.

"Finally, after all this time, someone has come and found me!" a man responded, anyone could feel the happiness just from hearing his voice.

I walked closer towards him. He was standing near some kind of wooden shed

"Come on in, it's dangerous outside," the man said.

I stepped inside the shed without saying a word.

The place didnt really have much. It had a table, a few chairs, and a wooden shelf which took up a whole wall and thats it. Well, not including the ridiculously complex looking tech sitting on the table, ive never seen anything like it my entire life. I'm still wondering how he made all of that.

"What's your name kid?" he asked.

"My name's Daniel." I said, "What's yours?"

"Jake," he replied, after a slight pause.

"How did you even survive here?" I asked.

"It's a long story but I could tell you something." He replied, "We're not alone here, they're some other... creatures."

"What do you mean?"

"They called themselves The Depth, I still don't know why. It is suprising that you survi-"

A loud noise interrupted the sentence he was saying.

"YOU CAN'T ESCAPE THIS LIMBO, JAKE. WHY WON'T YOU JOIN US?" said a robotic yet eerie voice, it came from right outside the shed.

"That's not good," Jake hissed, "Follow me!"

Jake opened a trapdoor which was disguised as one of the floorboards, he then went in and signalled to come inside. I ran and jumped inside the hidden space. I didnt know that there was a slope and I rolled down till I hit the bottom. Jake laughed and then he tried to compress it, I think he forgot that there's some kind of robot right outside the shed. Right after shushing himself, the robot broke in after breaking the door entirely as I got up.

We heard glass getting smashed, tables getting knocked over, bookshelves also getting knocked over, books getting scattered on the floor, chairs getting broken, and a lot more, right above us. After it destroyed almost everything in the shed, it made clicking noises with some growling and made a sound that sounded a lot like a laser blaster you see in sci-fi movies. And then it finally went off

"What even was that?" I asked.

"They called themselves the Depth. I still don't know why." Jake replied.
