I waved at her with a small smile. "Annyeong."

"Hi," she said, her voice normal but her eyes looked like she was up to something. "I have something for you... come to my room."

I raised an eyebrow, not sure what she meant. Her dad smiled at me from the living room. "Go on, Taehyung. You both have a lot to talk about."

I followed her upstairs. As soon as we entered her room, she suddenly grabbed me around the neck and put me in a chokehold.

"Yah, what are you doing?" I said, annoyed, trying to pull her arm off.

"You punk! This is how you act after fourteen months? Not even a proper hello yesterday?" she shouted.

I was still struggling when we both lost our balance and fell. I landed on the floor, and she fell right on top of me.

I looked up at her, surprised. Her hand was on my chest, and I could feel my heart beating really fast. She froze too, just staring at me.

Her face was so close, and I didn't know where to look. I quickly glanced at her lips and then looked back at her eyes. I gave a small smile. "If I knew you'd welcome me like this, I'd have come back sooner."

Her cheeks turned pink, and I felt my face getting hot too.

She stood up quickly, brushing her clothes like nothing happened. I got up too, pretending to fix my hair.

She walked to the corner of her room and picked up a suitcase. "Sit here," she said, patting the bed.

I sat down, watching her search through her things. She was so focused that I couldn't help smiling a little.

Finally, she pulled out a brown hat and turned around with a grin. She put it on my head. "There. You look like Puss in Boots."

I laughed and adjusted the hat. "Not bad, huh?"

She laughed too. "You mean not good."

I shook my head. "So, how was New York?"

She started talking about her projects and how busy the city was. Then she said, "But honestly, no one in New York was like my best friend."

I felt a little warm inside but tried not to show it. "So I'm special, huh?"

She rolled her eyes. "Don't let it go to your head."

We both laughed. Then she gave me a look. "So, what about you? Do you have a girlfriend now?"

Without thinking, I said, "Only if you say yes..."

She blinked. "What did you say?"

I shook my head quickly. "Nothing! Forget it."

It got quiet for a moment before I changed the subject. "I have an awards event coming up. Your dad said you should come. What do you think?"
