The Family Curse

Both Predator and Prey

Every day starts like any other for Branch. He'd wake up, get ready for the day, and then go find Poppy to hang out with. But today would be different for not only Branch but for all of the Brozone brothers.

*9:00 am*

Branch stretched and made a noise unknowingly to him. It sounded like a swampkin kitten but a little deeper. Brushing the thought off, he got down from his bed. But when he tried to stand on two legs, he flopped right over. Then, looking down, he saw his hands were paws! Freaking out, he stumbled to the mirror and saw himself.

Branch: What the what?! What am I?! I need to find out what I am! To the library!

When Branch tried to stand again, he fell on his butt. But he figured out that this creature walks on all fours. So, to get to the library, he'd have to do just that. Arriving at his personal library, he looked through all his animal books and finally found the animal he was.

Branch: A lion! Please tell me this is what an adult looks like.

Branch flipped the page over to find an even bigger lion with a giant golden mane.

Branch: Dangit! I need help! I gotta get Poppy! *trips over his feet* D'ah!

He ran over as best as he could to the elevator and then, using his head, pushed the lever to go up. When he got above ground, he tried to run but kept stumbling and ended up falling.

Branch: Ugh! This is so frustrating!!!

Branch felt so angry he felt something in his furry chest. So he let it out. It was a roar! It wasn't an impressive one, but a roar at the very least. However, this roar alerted bigger creatures in the forest, such as spiders. Branch saw it and was terrified. He tried the little roar, but it did nothing. Some of the spiders didn't even know what he was doing. The closer they got, the closer he came to being spider food. That is until a flash of golden fur took down the spider in front of him and banged it against a rock. The other spiders circled the huge lion, but three other lions helped it and scared the spiders off. Making sure each of them was okay, they looked at a frighyened Branch and then slowly made their way towards Branch. The bigger one he first saw approached him by bending down to sniff him. After it was done sniffing him, he got up and walked away. Then, the other two went near Branch, and the second lion with a bigger mane came and opened his mouth near Branch.

Branch: Wait! Wait! You guys just saved me, which means we're friends, right?! Right?!

Branch tried to run away, but the third lion with crazy hair looked like it wanted to play with him (which Branch didn't want to do). So Branch slid on his stomach under him but wasn't paying attention and hit his head against a tree. Before he blacked out, he swore he could hear his brothers Clay & Bruce's voice.

Clay: Man, he's really having a hard time in his new form.

Bruce: Hopefully, that hit on the head won't damage him too much.

Clay: Hahaha! Oh, you're serious.
