"HENRYYYYYY!!" Pipers screeches from the kitchen. "WHERE DID YOU PUT MY PHONE?!"
"I literally have not touched your phone in months." I respond from the couch. Piper continues to stomp throughout the house searching for her phone. I'm laying on the couch, trying to get a peaceful nap, but peaceful is not a word I associate with this house. I go to sit up, my stitches reminding me I'm still injured.
It's been 5 days since that night. The night where everything changed. I have always loved Charlotte as a friend, but now I think I love her as more than a friend. She took care of me, got me the help I needed, then stayed by my bedside until I was ready to leave. I want her. But how do I get her?
I very ungracefully make my way up to my room. I shut the door then pull off my shirt to look at my stitches. I've been having to wear long sleeves to hide the cuts. They are looking better, and don't look infected thank God. I gingerly run my hand over the big one and flinch. Still stings.
"Hey Henry, are you," Charlotte is standing in my doorway with her mouth open, sentence cut off.
"Hey Char" I say cheerily, all to knowing.
"Sorry, I uh um, should knocked, i'll leave you, um, uhh..." She continues looking at my chest, and I maybe flex a little bit to. Being Kid Danger over the years has made me incredibly built if I do say so myself.
"It's alright, I was just checking out the situation," I say and gesture to my body. She finally meets my eyes.
"Are you uh, doing ok?" She struggles to keep eye ccontact.
"I'm healing nicely, I think, but they still sting, especially the big one."
"Yeah," She's staring at the big slash. Her steps are slow as she walks into my room. She reaches out and touches my chest. The contact makes my head go back, and it stay that way as her hands glide over my skin. "I think your gonna be ok Henry,"
Only if you keep touching me will I be ok
She removes her hand, and my head whips down to look at her. God, she's standing so close. And she so much smaller than me.
"Charlotte, I,"
"WHAT THE BUTTTTTTTT?!" Me and Charlotte jump apart at the sound of Pipers voice. The door was open. Crap, she's gonna blow this outta proportion. "WERE YOU TWO KISSING??????"
"Piper,"
"CHARLOTTE AND HENRY WERE KISSINGGGGGGG!!!" She runs down the hallway, no doubt going to tell every person she can contact. And the worst part is I didn't even get to kiss her. I look over to Charlotte who is now standing on the opposite side of the room, and she looks mortified.
"Char, don't worry about her,"
"I'm gonna go," She says shakily and starts climbing out my window. My body is screaming to not let her go, to grab her around the waist and hold her in my arms. But I watch as she leaves, feeling the void in my chest get a little deeper.
