Ben stayed up for a while when they got back to his apartment. He wanted tomorrow to be the best day ever and full of new things. He listened and took in everything she said at dinner. The next morning he woke up and got dressed quickly, so he could leave out and get back before Miranda woke up.

He walked in and looked over at Miranda in the kitchen. “ I thought we agreed to let each other know before leaving the house,” she said swiftly.

“Good morning, unlike you I did not desert you for 12 hours. I only have been gone for one hour and that was to get everything we needed for today, so get dressed. I have two surprises for you.

Miranda nodded before walking off to the back room. One thing he knew for sure was that she was made to wear night shorts.
Miranda threw on a pair of jeans and boots before putting on a long-sleeved shirt. She combed her hair down after washing her face and brushing her teeth. “Okay I’m ready,” Miranda informed walking to the living room. Ben was dressed in jeans and a long-sleeved polo shirt.

“Okay, here,” Ben said, handing her a leather jacket.

“Oh thank you, this is nice,” Miranda smiled while putting it on. She watched as Ben grabbed his leather jacket off the couch. “Oh we're matching,” she said excitedly.

“Yeah, I bought them this morning. It's going along with the surprises.”

Ben looked dark and casual in his jacket and Miranda liked it. He looked confident and serious.

When they walked out of the apartment lobby, Miranda started walking toward his car but stopped when she saw him walking in another direction. Ben stopped in front of a sleek black motorcycle that she recognized was a Harley Davidson.

“Ben?”

“Remember, when you said that you have never been out of the country and you talked about riding a motorcycle?"

“Yeah,”

“Well, today’s the day. We’re going to Canada.” Ben smiled

Canada. Just like that Miranda thought to herself. She barely knew the man but he made her feel more alive than before the years she spent dead.

“Okay, hop on” he encouraged.

“Wait? Me?”

“Yeah, you said you wanted to ride a motorcycle.”

"You drive it and I'll ride."

"You sure, it's your first experience."

"Yes, I'm sure. I don't know anything about controlling that thing. I didn't mean that I literally wanted to drive it. I meant just ride it."

"Ok hop on then."

“Where to first?” she asked, staring at him.

“Breakfast, I'm going to take you to one of my favorite places. They have amazing waffles,”

“Ohh, I love a good waffle.”

Miranda looked at the bike in wonder. She really was going to get on this thing."Come on," he said, his voice teasing, "you've been through more than enough to handle a little ride."

“Isn't that the truth? Okay, okay,” she blew out a breath. She swung her leg over the seat and settled behind him. The leather seat was surprisingly comfortable. Miranda tentatively wrapped her arms around Ben's waist and leaned into him, her cheek resting against his back. The rumble of the motorcycle vibrated through her after he started it.

"You good?" he asked, his voice low as he glanced back, one eyebrow raised.

"Yeah," she replied softly, letting herself relax.
