When I was eight and I attended Académie Thorndale, my class had a pet chicken. I'm not to fond of chickens. Actually I'm not fond of animals in general.

"Mr. Falker! Mr Falker,  its Piper! She died!" Florence Roy cried out, rubbing her eyes as her blonde pig tails bobbed with each sob.

I watched as the crowd of my classmates gather around the lifeless body of Piper. My hazel eyes were lifeless, compared to the other wailing classmates.

"Yes, but Piper lived a happy life, because she had so many friends."  Mr. Falker pushed his glass up, crouching down to the height of the other children, trying to comfort them.

I lifted my backpack off of the hook on the back of my chair and wandered over to him. His eyes traced down to me. "Juniper? Is something wrong?" His face softened.

" I need to do my homework, so can I go home know." All students eyes turned to me, shock and sadness written on their faces.

"W-well," he stuttered, obviously conflicted on what to say. "of course you can, Juniper."

After that, Florence started calling me 'Cold Fish'. What was I supposed to do? I didn't feel sad, so I didn't cry.

My class had a funeral for Piper, and we were all supposed to write a sentence about what she meant to us.

I told Mr. Falker I didn't have anything to say, and everyone else took notice.

The nickname 'Cold Fish' stuck.
