It was a bright, tranquil morning in the heart of the Kobayashi village. Sunlight poured over the village's thatched roofs, casting soft, golden hues over the narrow, cobbled paths. Children's laughter mingled with the calls of traders, and for a moment, everything seemed far removed from the whispers of war.

In the distance, the sound of hooves interrupted the serenity, and soon a lone rider appeared. Kaito Ruyi, a skilled blacksmith and a proud member of the Ruyi family, made his way through the village on a striking white horse. The Ruyi were renowned across Eldrid for their exceptional craft in weaponry, and of all the families in the region, they were the only allies the Kobayashi had ever trusted. Kaito carried a long rectangular box strapped behind him, the carefully forged weapon intended for the head of the Kobayashi clan himself.

He rode up to Jin Kobayashi's home, where Jin was waiting at the gate, his calm presence and warm smile extending an unspoken welcome. Kaito dismounted and offered a respectful bow before presenting the weapon.

"Jin," Kaito began with a bow, "I apologize for the delay in delivery. This staff has been crafted with the finest metal from the heart of Ruyi's forges."

Jin's hand waved dismissively as he smiled, putting Kaito at ease. "There's no need for apologies, Kaito," he said, his voice carrying a calm assurance. He opened the box, revealing an elegant yet formidable staff. It was forged from a rare alloy, unlike any material used by the other families, light but incredibly durable, meant to withstand the fierce telekinetic forces of its wielder. Jin ran his hand along the staff, studying its fine craftsmanship.

Just then, Aiko, Jin's wife, entered the room, carrying a tray with tea and small plates of rice and fish. Her presence brought a warmth to the room, her serene smile reflecting the same calm as her husband's.

"A humble offering from our table, Kaito," Aiko said kindly.

Kaito dipped his head in gratitude but respectfully declined the offer, his expression growing serious. He cast a glance at Jin, and his tone softened.

"The war draws near, Jin, Aiko. The Ruyi clan is prepared to stand beside you. Our family will offer every resource, every weapon. We will fight with you until the end."

Jin's face remained calm, though he took in the solemnity of Kaito's words. For a moment, he glanced across the room to where their two infant children lay side by side, nestled in a cradle, his features softening. Turning back to Kaito, his gaze held a steady resolve.

"Your loyalty honors us, Kaito," he began, voice low and thoughtful. "But this is a battle between the Kobayashi and the Nightshades. It's an old blood feud—one that doesn't concern your family. I cannot let the Ruyi be caught in our struggle."

Kaito's brows furrowed in confusion, the resolve in his face unyielding. "Jin, please, let us help you. It would be a betrayal of honor to turn our backs on you in your time of need."

Aiko placed a calming hand on Kaito's arm, her face soft yet resolute. "We understand your loyalty, Kaito. But we would rather see you protect the Ruyi. If the unthinkable happens, then it's your family that must endure and carry forward the memories of ours."

Kaito turned to Jin, trying to hide the frustration and heartbreak behind his eyes. He wanted to argue, to insist on standing beside them, but he saw the gentle plea in Jin's eyes—eyes not hardened by war, but softened by acceptance. Jin knew the cost of this war, and his only desire was to protect those he loved, even if it meant facing the threat alone.
