Chapter - 40

In the party hall,

a commotion arose as people shouted, "The great business tycoon Adhyansh Singh Raghuvanshi has arrived!" The girls standing there were so captivated by Adhyansh that no one noticed Noor standing beside him. Meanwhile, Noor, with her sparkling eyes, observed the people around her, unnoticed.

She couldn't understand why everyone was looking in the same direction. Following their gaze, Noor discovered they were staring at her husband, Adhyansh. Though she wasn't wise to their lustful intentions, she disliked the attention on her partner. Standing beside Adhyansh, Noor stepped forward, positioning herself in front of him, and glared at the girls with a fierce stare, like a wild cat enraged. Adhyansh found her behavior amusing, but before he could react, Mr. and Mrs. Singhania arrived!

Maalini ji stepped forward and stood before Aarti ji, joining her hands to say, "Welcome to the New Year's celebrations!" Aarti ji also smiled and greeted her with joined hands, saying "Namaste." She couldn't bring herself to say more to her rival/co-wife.

"सौतन" as "rival wife" or "co-wife" to better convey the complex relationship dynamics.

Just then, Maalini ji asked,

"Where is your son?"

Aarti ji called out, "Adi... come here, beta!"

Adhyansh, still holding Noor's hand tightly with one hand, began to walk towards them.

|| Note: "Beta" is a Hindi term of endearment, often used to address children or younger individuals with affection.||

Actually, what happened was that all the girls were staring at Adhyansh, which didn't sit well with Noor. She went and stood in front of him, but Adhyansh was taller, so his face was still clearly visible, and the girls continued to stare shamelessly! Now, things had gone too far, so Noor started covering Adhyansh's face with both her hands, which annoyed Adhyansh greatly. He grabbed both her hands firmly and gave her a stern warning, his eyes flashing with annoyance, to stop her behavior.

Adhyansh and Noor stand before them.
Maalini ji says, "Your son has really changed a lot!"

Aarti ji says,( with sad tone ) "Yes, everyone has to change with time!"

Then Arnav ji asks, "Who is this girl, Adi?"

Adhyansh's anger had now surfaced, triggered by two things!

Grinding his teeth, Adhyansh said:

"My name is Adhyansh Singh Raghuvanshi; address me as Mr. Raghuvanshi!"

"Secondly, she's not a girl, she's my wife, Mrs. Raghuvanshi!"

Arnav ji said, his voice laced with anger:

"Your mother did the same thing which mine did - " brought home some street girl as her daughter-in-law!"

"Shut your mouth, or I'll ruin your so-called reputation in this worthless party, leaving you unable to show your face to anyone ever again!" ( With a lot of anger on his face adhyansh said this to Arnav ji )

Maalini ji gently presses Arnav ji's hand and signals him to calm down.

Meanwhile, their children, standing on the side, were thoroughly enjoying the drama, well aware that this woman was their stepmother and the boy, their stepbrother.

Aarti ji asks, ( Ignoring all bullshits ) "Where are Mom and Dad?"

Arnav says calmly, "They're in their room, they'll come soon."

Adhyansh - "We don't have time to wait, we're going to their room to meet them! Come, Mom!"

Maalini ji says, "I'll come with you all too!"

Then they head upstairs.

Inside the room,

an elderly woman lay on the bed, while an old man stood by the window.

Maalini ji knocks on the door, and a voice from inside says, "Come in!"

As soon as they receive permission to enter, they begin to step inside, but Adhyansh suddenly stops Maalini ji midway.

"They're your own in-laws , we won't run off with your in laws 🙂

Maalini ji: "But I... inside!!"

Adhyansh: ( directly ) "Get out!"

Maalini ji storms off, her face turned away in anger.

Now, the room is left with Aarti ji, Noor, Adhyansh, and Adhyansh's grandparents.

Aarti ji's eyes welled up with tears as soon as she saw Purnima ji in such a frail condition.

"Because, after all, she was the only mother Aarti had in this world. She was the reason Aarti was alive today."

(The truth was that Aarti ji was an orphan whom Purnima ji had rescued from the streets and given shelter in her ashram. Aarti ji was Purnima ji's most beloved child. Purnima ji had a single son, Arnav, and she had wanted Aarti to marry him, which did happen! Initially, everything was fine, but then one day, Arnav suddenly showed up married to Malini!)

The shock was too much for Aarti ji to bear she couldn't withstand it and one night, she left the house with her son, disappearing into the distance.

Years later, when Purab ji and Purnima ji learned about Aarti ji's whereabouts, they went to meet her, but she flatly refused to return.

And so, they didn't meet again... until now.
