IT WAS THE weekend, and Sarim sat on the edge of her bed, nervously fiddling with the hem of her oversized sweater. She had dressed carefully, hoping to impress Sunghoon. As she looked at herself in the mirror, she felt a mix of excitement and nerves. It was just the two of them today, and she wanted everything to be perfect.

With each passing minute, her heart raced, the anticipation bubbling within her.

Finally, Sarims Nokia buzzed, and she saw Sunghoon's name on the screen.

I'm waiting outside.

Her breath hitched at the thought of him waiting for her. Taking a moment to compose herself, Sarim grabbed her old and dirty blue jacket, put on her mom's red Mary Janes and quietly walked out of the apartment she was living in with her Dad. She opened the door to find Sunghoon leaning casually against the railing, dressed in a black jacket that accentuated his athletic build. The sight of him sent warmth flooding through her, and her stomach twisted with excitement.

"Hey, Sarim!" he called, flashing a bright smile.

"Hi" she managed to reply, her voice barely above a whisper. As she stepped outside, her cheeks flushed under his gaze, and he extended his arm playfully.

"Ready?" he asked, his smile inviting her to step closer.

Sarim nodded, her heart racing as they walked side by side toward the skating rink. The cool air wrapped around them, filling her with a sense of adventure. She had never ice skated before, and the thought both thrilled and terrified her. She felt a mix of eagerness and apprehension, her stomach fluttering as they approached the rink.

Inside, it was filled with laughter and chatter. Sarim hesitated for a moment, watching others glide across the ice, their movements fluid and graceful. Sunghoon glanced at her, noticing her uncertainty.

"Don't worry Sarim,
I'll help you," he said, his voice steady and reassuring.

They rented skates, and as Sarim laced hers up, she felt her nervousness bubble to the surface. Sunghoon sat next to her, effortlessly tying his own skates before turning to her with an encouraging grin.

"Do you need help?" he asked, leaning closer.

"Um, I think I got it," Sarim replied, trying to appear confident as she struggled with the laces. But as she fumbled, Sunghoon's expression shifted to one of determination.

"Here, let me," he said, his tone gentle but firm. Before she could protest, he knelt beside her, taking her skate in his hands. The warmth of his touch sent a shiver through her, and she felt a rush of heat rise to her cheeks.

"Just hold still," he instructed softly, focusing on the laces. His fingers brushed against her ankle as he tied asthem snugly, and Sarim felt an electric thrill with each gentle movement. She could barely breathe, acutely aware of how close he was.

"There, all set," he said, standing up and offering his hand. His expression was playful yet sincere, making her heart race as she took it.

They stepped onto the ice, and Sarim felt a wave of cold rush up her legs. Her heart pounded in her chest as she tried to find her balance. Sunghoon skated beside her, effortlessly gliding across the surface while she took hesitant steps.

"Just take it slow," he advised, gliding effortlessly while she wobbled.

Sarim tried to focus, her eyes fixed on him as he moved with such ease. But as she began to feel more comfortable, she pushed off too hard and misjudged her footing. Before she knew it, she was tumbling backward, her heart dropping as she fell.
