The rest of the way to the tall hill did not take a lot of time. With Nephis leading the way, taking all the right turns at all the right places, there was no need to explore the labyrinth and backtrack after encountering a dead end. Additionally, there were no scavengers around. Soon, they made it to the tall hill with an outcropping of coral at the top of it.

Nephis dismissed and re-summoned her rope before throwing it to the top of the coral structure. After Nephis made the quick climb, she helped Cassie up before throwing the rope back down for Sunny to climb. They soon reached the girls' camp.

Sunny gestured to the firepit in the middle of the camp.

"Was that light last night you?"

Cassie turned away from Sunny.

"Yes, we lit a fire to have something to eat, but it was not a good idea."

Sunny faked a surprised face.

"Why"

"At night, any light will attract monsters. We were attacked by scavengers first. And then... then..."

She paled and didn't finish. But she didn't have to. Sunny most likely knows the forgotten shore better than anyone else currently alive.

"I understand. There are some really strong monsters in the water. Matter of fact the first creature I saw was a Corrupted Devil."

Cassie's and Nephis's heads whipped towards Sunny so fast he feared they'd get whiplash.

"You've seen a Corrupted Devil?! What are Sleepers meant to do about a monster of that level..."

Cassie collapsed onto her knees looking more distraught than ever, even Nephis looked worried for once before putting her poker face back on.

"If you think that's bad... When i saw it, it was running away from something much stronger and already half dead."

They both looked at him in shock momentarily speechless, before Nephis asked.

"How do you know."

Her question seemed to have calmed Cassie too if only slightly.

"How do i know what?"

She looked at him awkwardly for a moment before responding.

"How do you know it was a Corrupted Devil."

"Thats right. You must have just been confused or maybe mistook it for something else. There's no way there would be a Corrupted Devil here. Please tell me you just assumed the worst."

Cassie practically begged but Sunny just shrugged in return.

"That's what the spell called it when i killed it. Corrupted Devil Wave Gnasher."

The silence stretched for a while as the girls processed what Sunny just said even Nephis couldn't wipe the shocked look off her face for once. It was Cassie that broke it first.

"You killed it?! How?!"

"Well it's not as impressive as it sounds. The thing was practically dead already, running off adrenaline i assume because all i did was stab my sword into it and hold on for dear life as it swam us away from whatever creature was chasing it. I was just lucky and it counted as my kill."

Nephis narrowed her eyes at Sunny.

"Do you have proof?"

Cassie thought for a moment and then looked at Sunny.

"Did you get the soul shards?"

Sunny shrugged.

"No? After it died i spotted a headless statue about quarter of a days walk from here. I would've been dragged away by the retreating current if i stayed on it too long, and there was no way my sword could've carved deep enough to reach where the soul shards would've been. So i just ditched the corpse and swam for the statue. It wasn't too hard with the memory it gave."
