Leah's POV

"Beth, come on don't fall asleep on me..." i had been carrying beth on my arm, we had gone out to a halloween party. I would've taken beth home to her own house but my apartment was closer and I had a spare bedroom so i didn't mind letting her spend the night.

"I'm going as fast as I can..." beth mumbled barely.

We had to take the stairs to get up to my floor, the sixth floor. The whole whole apartment complex was dead silent, I could hear my breathing and beth's loud drunk breathing. I carefully sat her down on the floor as we made it to my door. I was out of breath and uncomfortable in the halloween costume beth had made me wear. This whole night was last minute, beth was dressed as a cat with squiggly lines as whiskers. I had been some kind of witch, beth was the one that dressed me up for the party, I had a witch hat but some kind of wings that were way too tight on my shoulders. It made no sense to me, but she begged me to go, she said it would be a good idea.

But here we were.

"Let me get my keys out..." i whispered to beth who was sat on the floor of the hallway. It was dead silent, not a single sound or person in sight. We never really got trick or treaters, so I figured my neighbors were either out or asleep. Either way, it was a quiet hallway. I reached in my side pocket, trying to dig for my keys when suddenly I heard beth mumble something under her breath.

"Girl..." beth said, I could barely understand her. I looked down at her and narrowed my eyes. "There's a girl..." beth raised her arm, pointing to the end of the hallway. I slowly turned my head, expecting to see a neighbor or a trick or treater, but there was nothing.

An empty hallway.

I looked back down at beth and scoffed, shaking my head as i dug for my keys in my pocket. "You're drunk..." i whispered to beth. I finally found my keys, i spread them out in my hand trying to look for the key to the apartment. Suddenly, I see the light bulb above us flicker. I looked up and it stops immediately.

"Uh oh..." beth said, burping right after.

"Beth, get up man..." i tried to shrug it off, it was a coincidence.

I grabbed the key, shoving into the keyhole and as I was about to twist it, I see something out of the corner of my eyes. Down the hallway, right where beth pointed at a few seconds ago, I could swear i saw something white. Something flowing across the the hallway, down the hall it turned into a corner where there were two other apartments but it was a dead end.

"The girl...." beth said, a little louder this time.

I turned around, flinching a little at her tone. I kneeled down to beth, she was still sat on the floor. "Beth, mate you're drunk...you're probably seeing two of me or three- the point is...there's no one here, other than the two of us. Now, get up because we need to-"

"Hello." a voice from behind me said.

I stood up quickly and turned around, a girl stood there. At first glance I thought she was maybe a trick or treater that came by, but she wasn't carrying a bag. She was just standing there, she seemed to have some makeup on. Some eyeliner was running down her face as if she were crying all night long. Her eyes were bright red, and she looked rough. My eyes scanned her, she was wearing a long flowy dress, it looked old and ripped. She was pale and just fidgeted with her hands. I was a bit taken back, she had literally appeared out of nowhere.
