"Ammi Phuphi aur Daadi aapse milna chahti thi," Meesam said. This time, Meerab took an effort, washing her face, combing her hair and wearing a baby pink suit.

Exiting the room, she went to the hall Maa Begum sat there along with Maryam, the matriarch had aged now, she was frail, and after losing her son, she seemed to have lost half of her health.

Maryam helped Maa Begum up. As the woman hugged Meerab, "Mera baccha," Meerab placed her head on Salma Begum's shoulder, trying to control the tears, but it was hard.

"Shukar karo apne Abbu par gaye ho, agar Maa Begum par gaye hotey toh.."

Oddly, Murtasim was a lot like Maa Begum in a good way. He was comforting, fair, and little biased towards one kid- Meesam. It was his protectiveness, Meesam was his treasure. She was almost twenty-five when Meesam brought her male friend over. Five minutes later, Murtasim had him against the wall with a gun pointed to his head.

Yusuf was stubborn though. He liked Meesam a lot, and begrudgingly, Murtasim had to agree.

"Beta woh Haya milne aayi thi.."

Meerab sighed, "Maa Begum mujhe uski shakal nhi dekhni."

"Meerab jaaney do baees saal hogaye, even my son is gone -"

Meerab cut her off, "Mera shauhar bhi tha woh, aur ab Murtasim nhi hai toh, kisse milne aayi hai woh? Galti ki maafi hoti hai, gunnah ki nhi. Maa Begum please usko boley chaley jaaney".

"Murtasim ki qabar par jaana chahti thi woh bas ek baar..." Meerab wanted to stay calm, "Aap jaye beshak magar mere shauhar ki qabar se usko durr rakhey, pata nhi ab konsa kala jaadu karde"

Ma Begum sighed, "Meerab woh badal gayi hai, aur Murtasim mera beta hai tum kon hoti ho Haya ko rokne waali".

"Aapka beta? Chaar din hoye hai usse..." she couldn't say it, "Itni mohabbat thi Haya se itni humdardi thi toh kyun Murtasim se shaadi nhi karayi uski Zameen k liye?"

"Meerab! Woh tumhari zameen nhi thi kabhi. Pehle hi haveli pe kabza karke baithi ho", Meesam who stood outside rushed in, "Dafa ho yaha se", her eyes glaring at the two of them.

"Apne bacchon k bhi dimaag mai tumne zeher bhar diya", Ma Begum screamed, Maryam was pleading her not to cross the line.

"Ammi ne nahi aapki in baaton ne zeher bhara hai, you never cared about my father, all you cared about was land!! Isiliye aapne Baba ki Ammi se shaadi karayi, isiliye aapne unko wild life photographer banne nhi diya..."She was shouting back, yet there was so much anguish in her voice as Meesam uttered the words, "Mar gaye hai woh... ab kya unko do gazz zameen ke andar bhi chain nhi dengi".

Meerab comforted Meesam, "Beta... aap andar jao. I will deal with them. "

"Magar-"

"Meesam jao," Meesam passed a glare to Maa Begum, "Mai bahar khadi hu", this was a threat to Maa Begum if she stepped out of bounds.

As soon as she left Meerab took a seat, "Baithkar baat suljhatey hai", Meerab said.

Maa Begum sat down, Meerab glanced around, and then her eyes went to Murtasim’s picture, "Mujhe zameen mai koi interest nahi hai, do din baad kagzaat banwadungi aur officially aapko papers miljayenge. Bas ek sach jaanna tha."

Ma Begum raised her eyebrows, "Kya?"

"It wasn’t Murtasim's father who wanted us to get married. I know you lied about his last wish. You always liked Haya more than me, then why did you force me to marry Murtasim?"

Maa Begum couldn't help it, "Na meri khwaish thi na Shahnawaz ki, tum Murtasim ki pasand thi".

Meerab rolled her eyes, Murtasim hated her.
