Chapter Six

During the afternoon, the ponies, dragon, animals and human girl finished cleaning the house. By nighttime, it looked so much better even Rarity was happy with the result. She even admired the beautiful animal carvings on all the various wooden furniture.

"Ah, much better," Rarity sighs. "Don't you think so, girls?"

"It sure looks cleaner than before," Applejack replied.

"Those little squirts won't even know what happened," Rainbow remarked.

"I'm sure they'll be very happy when we tell them," Fluttershy added.

While all the ponies seemed satisfied with their work, Rarity noticed Twilight looking sadly toward the ground.

"Whatever's the matter, darling? Aren't you happy whoever lives here will be pleased after what we've done for them?"

"It's not that, Rarity," Twilight answered. "It's about Snow White."

Rarity faced her friend with confusion, then turned to the human girl they just became friends with and back to Twilight.

"What about her?"

"Don't you remember? The queen is still after her and wants to kill us too!"

Rarity suddenly recalled the reality of the situation.

"Oh... Right."

Rainbow Dash, on the other hoof, was more optimistic shadow boxing with her hooves.

"Well, if she ever finds us, I'm ready for her."

"You mean to harm her?" Fluttershy asked. "That's not very nice."

"She's right," Applejack agreed. "After all, she's still Snow White's mother."

"Stepmother," Rainbow corrected.

"A stepmother's love can still be as deep and pure as a mother's," Applejack argues. "It's jealousy that made her wicked."

"I don't know, guys," Spike said, feeling uncomfortable. "You sure we're safe in here from that witch?"

"I hope so," Fluttershy said. "I can't imagine what will happen if she finds out we're here."

"Don't you worry about that," Pinkie replied, rubbing Fluttershy's head. "That Queen Meanie doesn't know where we are. Unless she has a mirror that knows and sees 'everything', a mirror she'd happen to ask if Snow White is still alive, she won't find us."

Suddenly, Hikari and Celestia remember seeing a mirror in the queen's castle and her eyes went wide.

"Oh no! She 'has' a mirror like that!"

"What?" Twilight asked.

"Celestia, Luna and I saw it. The mirror knows and sees 'everything'!"

The ponies, girls and the dragon gasp fearfully.

"What!?" Nagisa shocked.

"You mean running away was all in vain?!" Twilight asked, in shock.

"Wait a minute!" Spike interrupts. "Humbert gave us a chance to escape her. He's searching for an animal's heart to show to the queen, so there's a chance she'll leave us alone when she sees the heart."

"Hmm... That could work," Twilight said, thoughtfully. "Let us hope she doesn't ask the mirror to be sure."

The ponies, girls and dragon cringed at the thought.

"Is everything alright?"

A female voice interrupted their thinking as they turned to see Snow White, who held a candle in her hand and looked concerned when she saw their faces. Twilight quickly shook her head in response to their friend's question.
